Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Alright -- I welded a new bracket on to the motor to stabilize it. It doesn't rock any more. I'm going to rewire this motor but suspect I need to add a pressure switch with an unloader. I don't know how to plumb that, though -- will a pressure switch like this work? How do I plumb it in...

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Yeah, it rocks back and forth and vibrates a lot. I wouldn't trust it to run like this for very long. Yeah, there isn't an on/off switch so I'll need to rewire it when I get one of those. The wiring for right now is just temporary.

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

The motor would trip the breaker with the belt removed -- and it would happen in the first 10 seconds. I junked that motor. Bought another one with a capacitor start. It came with a pulley on it with several different diameters, I calculated out the correct ratio to hit aproximately 850rpms...

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Alright, I found a used 3/4hp 1750rpm motor that I picked up for $50. In my stupidity, I didn't realize until I had it all hooked up that this motor has a rubber mount. Is there any kind of kit that will replace the rubber with something rigid? Google has got me nowhere on this one.....

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Thanks! Great info! 3SCFM @ 125PSI isn't too bad at all (and not that far off from a newer compressor.) I believe that this does have an unloader under the pressure valve. I'll take a picture and you guys can let me know. Anyone have a source for an inexpensive motor? I looked at harbor...

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

I get that. My big problem is that I don't have 220v to my garage and I don't see an inexpensive way to add it. I'm crippled from the get go.

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Thanks. Any more details on what it was designed for? What size tank and what size motor would it have been appropriate for?

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Haha! I appreciate that. I'm only $20 into it at this point so I'm not too stressed. The tank and fittings are worth that if nothing else.

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Well I checked the wiring on the motor and it did seem goofed up. I re-wired it to 115v and it did the same thing..... ran for 20 seconds and then tripped the breaker. Took it apart and the centrifugal start switch seemed free and the capacitor tested good. That motor is junk. Bolted on my...

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Good thinking.... I'll check the motor. The guy I bought it from claimed he had been running it on 115v but since it was craigslist, who really knows if he had even run it. Thanks for the advice!

Vinatge air compressor pump ID and help?

Picked up this old compressor from craigslist. The price dropped dramatically when the motor wouldn't spin without tripping the breaker. I only have 110v in my garage so I know a big pump won't work -- I had questions on this one when I saw the motor was only 1/2HP but it certainly appears to...

    Battery maintenance/storage?

Lithium Ion -- BSL1815X batteries. They have been sitting this time for about 3 months. I just don't find much time or energy in the winter to tackle projects.

    Battery maintenance/storage?

I've had some issues with my hitachi cordless batteries. The first batch I went through, I left in the unheated shop over the winter and they didn't charge again come spring (my fault.) This year, I decided I'd leave them on the charger, in the house, and plugged in. Imagine my surprise when...

    Hitachi Drill/Impact Conundrum

Big Sky wrote me back and said it's only 1-year on the battery and the tool since it is reconditioned. New tools have a 3-year warranty on the batteries and the Lithium Ion tools have a lifetime warranty (but only on the tool itself.)

    Hitachi Drill/Impact Conundrum

That would be incredible. I now see that on their main website. I've contacted both Hitachi and Big Sky Tool. I suspect they may tell me to pound sand since they were reconditioned tools, but it's def. worth a try!

    Hitachi Drill/Impact Conundrum

I bought a combo kit in November 2012 of a Hitachi 18v Lithium Ion drill and impact driver. Bought it refurbed (This kit: http://bigskytool.com/Hitachi_KC18DHL_18V_1.5Ah_Lithium_Ion_Slide_Battery_3-Tool_Combo_Kit_%28Reconditioned%29___i1585.aspx) My understanding was that it was a factory...

    Adapt polisher to die grinder?

I guess that makes sense. The HF unit works great with thread-on and hook and loop attachments, but my local Home Depot doesn't carry any of these in buffing or polishing wheels. Only the mandrel/clamp-style wheels. I just keep running into situations where I wish I could use those and it...

    Adapt polisher to die grinder?

I've got a HF polisher -- this model. It works great for its purpose and I've used it to buff and polish boats, jet skis and exhaust parts. But -- I want to be able to use it more like a die grinder and use cut-off disks, buffing wheels and grinding wheels. It's got a 5/8" shaft just like a...
