Don't mess with garage door springs!!

Charles, they didn't have a safety cable, and I had never even thought to add one. I had plans to replace both doors, it just so happened to be that same week that I did.

Don't mess with garage door springs!!

In '05 I closed one of the ancient doors in my garage and had a spring snap and recoil between myself and a friend. It was a very close call and could have ended up horribly...We stood there silent for a second before letting out a "holy ****" or three. I went and found a door setup that I was...

Snap On KRL 22 Drawer 3 Bank Rollaway

Going to be tough to get anywhere near that for a box. I may sound like a ****, but if you want it gone in a hurry, that's not the right price.

What did you guys do in your garage today?

Replaced headgaskets and water pump on a Subaru Outback...Using the money to help pay the bills....

New Snap on deep bolt remover

That's because they just photoshopped the "craftsman" logo off the plastic case........I'm sure the real manufacturer didn't have time to print out 27 different labels for who they are reselling too.

    The Ultimate Garage Lift

It doesn't hurt to buy an American-made product but let's be realistic here, who spends 100% of their money on products made only in the USA? It's not as though Bend-pak is the only company in this country outsourcing to not only save themselves money, but to pass on the savings to it's...

What brand does the Military use?

As an aviation technician in the Coast Guard it was Snap-on. Before I went to aviation school, I was at a small-boat station. There it was a mix of snap-on and craftsman there.

Sears toolbox, have you seen one local to you?

I believe I have the box you are talking about..I bought it to use in my garage before I stopped working as a technician and brought my Snap-on box home. The drawers seem flimsy to me, compared to my KRL1003, but they certainly do the job. I bought the setup as a closeout item, and it was a...

Anybody have a Kobalt 80 gal air compressor

I have officially given up on my quest for the $385 compressor. Big shocker...the two stores that had them in stock in MA claim they "can't match that price because they paid $499 for them"....With that and the cost of a 140+ mi round trip in my gas guzzling truck...It's not worth it. Oh well...

Anybody have a Kobalt 80 gal air compressor

Thanks for the input...I will call and ask if anything can be done. Since there was only one in stock in my entire area I have a feeling they'll tell me to piss off. I'll call back this week.

Anybody have a Kobalt 80 gal air compressor

I called 3 of my local lowes and found the one farthest away has one in stock..The employee in the tool dept told me over the phone that it was $699, and not a discounted price...I don't want to make a 70mi drive to find out for some reason in my region it isn't $385...who's got any ideas? -Gabe

Snap on KRL1003 like new: worth $3500?

To me that was a good deal based on the condition of the toolbox. If the seller "practically gave it away" he wouldn't be collecting $3,250. Anyone who pays full price for one of those boxes is just throwing their money away based on the HUGE markup done by Snap On dealers...If someone thinks...

    Toyota timing belt/cam/crank tools

On the Sienna he has, he can get a way with not replacing the water pump right now. That's certainly his decision though. I have done the 2nd timing belt (120-180k miles) on a few commuter '04 and up Sienna's and they never had water pump issues. The cam seals occasionally leak, but that is...

    Toyota timing belt/cam/crank tools

I just spent the last two years working at Toyota dealership and never had to use any special tools to do the v6 timing belts. In the transverse mounted cars (avalon, camry, sienna) The Sienna as about as easy as they come. The factory repair manual is always nice to follow, but thanks to the...

    Awesome Car Wax

If you are willing to spend a little, I highly recommend Menzerna products. Especially the "full molecular jacket" kit...By far the easiest wax I have ever used...I got it from a friend who is a dedicated auto detailer. -Gabe

    Making money with your garage

The money I make working on cars in my garage generally pays for upgrades to the garage. New tools, Parts for my own vehicles, etc. Sometimes I barter for services (electrical and plumbing, two things I prefer to have done up to code), even tattoos! I don't do it as a business, just when things...

    First Harbor Freight Tools Purchase

I got a set of the Pittsburgh 1/2" deep impact sockets in 2003, used them daily as a dealer tech...They never failed. Even my 21mm that I used to remove thousands of lugnuts...There is no sign of the original finish on it, and it is still going strong. I use Snap-On 1/2" shallow impacts and...
