    Another mystery tool

Looks like a good opportunity to start! If you do, you will find having more than one router is a nice thing - one can never have too many routers. Nice to have tools handed down - those are the favorite tools I have.

    Another mystery tool

Well, if you change your mind and want to know what the last one is, do a search on "Craftsman 9-25173" - it is a piece from their edge guide and contour finger attachment. I went looking a bit after seeing the other items were Craftsman; I thought it reminded me of something from one of their...

    Another mystery tool

With the pin in it I would believe it was actually for a saber saw or jig saw rather than a circular saw - the straight edge down for straight parallel cuts and the pin (with the normal straight edge up rather than down) is for circle cuts. I am not sure about the others.

Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff!

Re: ~ Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff! I have a few Plomb items; I only recently really started to use and accumulate them. I just spent some time on a tool board and racks/hangers to store some general use tools. Here are my Plomb combination and box end wrenches (sorry; the...

need ideas for multi-purpose workbench build...

bimmerZ5- Not sure if this helps, but what you describe reminds me of a plan by Danny Proulx in his book Building Workshop Workstations. He designed a "multifunction power tool cabinet" with replaceable tops, each with a tool mounted. You can install whichever tool you needed on the top of the...

    loose parts, bolts and nuts.

Ratchet Guy - I also use coffee cans and organize them in a simple shelf unit; I posted a pic on another thread yesterday: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=524588&d=1454873473

Wood cabinets for tool, parts or nuts and bolts or even your socks. please show them

Thanks. Yes, an old but good idea. Good thing is these plastic containers don't leave broken glass all over when you drop them like the baby jars or mason jars!

Wood cabinets for tool, parts or nuts and bolts or even your socks. please show them

I recently built this simple wall shelf unit to hold plastic coffee and drink mix containers I have collected over recent years. I find the containers handy for storing fasteners and various type of hardware, especially for my woodworking and general household repairs. I can easily take a...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Buick Sales and Service Garage 1936

I had not posted any before, but here are a couple of photos. These are in a woodworking shop in my old barn; this part is under a loft. These fixtures are smaller than yours and are Spero brand; the shade is separate from the base. I saved mine from a dumpster on a renovation project. Yes...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Buick Sales and Service Garage 1936

I have used similar old light fixtures in my shop and barn spaces; I really like the old look. I have been starting to use LED screw-in bulbs in them. I have seen mogul base LED bulbs out now (although I have not used any yet) - the ones I have seen are intended for parking lot fixtures and so...

    Knotty pine in a garage

It may be possible to use wood and still pass local fire codes (depending on the codes and local authorities). Do a search on "Class A Intumescent Fire Retardant Varnish" - there are a number of manufacturers. Intumescent paints and varnishes are finishes which essentially puff up in a fire...

    Vintage Craftsman Table Saw Thread

Bagged89s10 - Nice saws! The rear roller you have was an option (you referred to it as "custom" - I assume you thought a previous owner fabricated it himself?). Those were an optional accessory - I have a set with the 2160 model that my father bought new in the 50's.

    Too many Channellock pliers?

Be very careful of gathering things like that together in one place. My routers used to be scattered around, but then I built a nice cabinet to store them. Over the years when I would get another router I could easily dance around the question of how many I had. Once I gathered them together...

Old Craftsman Wrench... No Number, Any Value

"Is it collectible?" Of Course it is collectible! Everything is collectible! Now that you have this one, you need a full set . . .

    Fox Valley Fabrication

Great project - I like your design and attention to detail! By the way, good choice in tractors (from your shots of barn interior). Is that a DC, or an SC? Like the signs on the interior wall too. I have a couple of original rectangular "Case Farm Machinery" metal signs from a couple of...

I had to buy it but have no clue.

I have seen some of these but have never had any. Do a search on "apothecary cork cutters" - I knew someone who used them to cut holes in gaskets.

    cool loft / attic stairway

Our garage has/had one like this. Ours had loops made of metal strapping attached to the joists above at the bottom end - you would raise the stairs and then slip a bar through the loops to hold the stairs up (rather than a post to the floor). When I switched from sliding doors to overhead...

    Another Craftsman 150 Series DP

The ends I was referring to are the metal end caps of the motor that the bolts holding it together go through. One of these will have the starting switch attached to it and wires from that switch to the coils.

    1938 lathe

Cool! Sears also used Sunlight motors by the way on their "Commander" bench grinders from the early 1930's. I just tore down / cleaned / reassembled mine. Nice old motors.

    Another Craftsman 150 Series DP

Nice drill press. I ended up buying two similar Craftsman models (an 80 and a 100) on the cheap (missing parts that I am gradually finding). Slow speeds is a problem with these - Sears made a couple of slow speed attachments which occasionally come up on eBay but can be pricey. It is also...
