What would you use to fill in gaps between plywood?

Works wonders.... I used it on every tongue and groove joint when I put up about 100 feet of plywood on my walls. Sand lightly and paint.

My Take On Cordless Tool Storage...

I would give it a great review. It worked perfect with no hiccups whatsoever. Granted, used it just for this little job, but it worked flawlessly. The only thing that didn't work well was the little rod & flat part that is supposed to be a stop to replicate the same length put into the...

My Take On Cordless Tool Storage...

Had much "analysis paralysis" over the last couple of weeks for cordless (and some corded) power tool storage. Didn't want to just throw them in drawer. Many nice examples of hanging under the cabinet, but mostly just drills and drivers... I need to store other stuff as well. Also thought about...

    Gas heater recomendation

Head down to Menards and pick up one of these: Beacon Morris 45K Have same size garage as you in NE Ohio.... insulated. Easy install, worked great for 7 years and counting.... brings it up from 50 to 65 degrees in about 20 to 30 minutes (in below zero weather). Gas bills have been reasonable...

    Standard construction or pole barn

If code allows, how about a hybrid? Stick built on pole barn foundation. It is very common here. My 24x32 was built this way 5 years ago and has been a perfect compromise between the two. Plus, your foundation is the form for the concrete floor. Here in NE Ohio.... without concrete or any inside...

Cabinets to fit around/above foundation wall

Just run the counter top a bit deeper to cover the gap.... simple. I screwed a 2x4 in the wall for the counter top to sit on along the back wall. Attach the cabinets together through their face frames and once the counter top is on they won't move. If you look at the left rear of the cabinet...

Best storage cabinets for the money

For the money, these can't be beat IMO. I have four of them for over 4 years and they have held up incredibly. Holds 150lbs. per shelf. https://www.sevilleclassics.com/ultrahd-rolling-storage-cabinet-18x36x73?pid=88 Sam's Club has them for $200 each. I did not mount the wheels and put them...

    What to put on walls?

Figured I spent a little bit extra (like $60 total) and overkill it from the get-go.... 3/4" tongue and groove subfloor..... Hang pretty much anything from pretty much anywhere. Menards 3/4" T&G plywood is only $3 more a sheet than 3/4" OSB.

Stolen tools thread got me thinking...

Guess I gotta be the bubble burster here as well (as with the stolen tools thread). 25 year cop here.... Everybody wants those damn speeders brought to justice when they are speeding in your neighborhood.... until your aunt, nephew, kid, cousin, brother-in-law, wife, mother, or long lost love...

    Stolen Tools

25 year cop here.... 16 years Detective Division. Of the hundreds and hundreds of prints taken over the years.... 80% are just smudges and smears. 19%, we send to the state crime lab for comparison to the national database.... response is always.... ".... did not contain enough ridge detail for...

Garage wall storage (4car) aka tale of two cities

Can't go wrong with these. For the price, they are great quality and hold 150lbs. per shelf. I bought four of them, didn't use the casters and put them on a platform I built. Six years and they still look and work as new. The Sam's Club site shows $9.99 shipping to receive in about 8 days. I...

    Railroad Rail

25 year police officer here. The NTSB has sent out a letter (I saw it with my own eyes) to every scrap yard in my area. Basically it says if you buy even a RR spike as scrap the Feds will close you down and charge with a crime. They are rightfully deathly afraid of low-lifes cutting up active...

    Overhead door track brackets

If you are planning on finishing the ceiling. Easy, cheap, and looks really awesome (if I do say so, myself): Hang the ends off of 2x4's.... Sister a second 2x4 to the original 2x4.... Cover the now 4x4 with vinyl deck post covers.... Glue on a trim piece at the ceiling, and a cap on the...

Garage Door Rails Hanging Brackets - Options ?

Really fancy it up.... Use two sistered 2x4s (making a 4x4) and then slip a deck post cover over top. High-line look all the way... but cheap.

    Base Grade Fill

I had to come up about almost 3 feet in the front of my garage as we built on a slope and I wanted the rear out at ground level (not below grade) for proper drainage around the building. My concrete guy used large fill (called "bricka brak") with smaller gravel on top. So far, so good. No...

    Anyone regret getting blueprint cabinets?

if you have some really deep pockets, then Lista or Vidmar is ideal.... but most of us aren't able to spend thousands to store nuts and bolts. If you aren't a garage "diva" then the blueprint cabinets work great! Especially if you are getting them for $75 each. I picked up three sections of...

Compact excavator rental through Home Depot?

BX25 with loader and backhoe = 2700 lbs. trailer (guesstimate) = 2000 lbs. =4700 lbs They still required a 3/4 ton to pull it.... stupid, if you ask me as it is less than half my tow capacity, They can pound salt. Bet they are losing a ton of $$$ with this stupid rule.

Compact excavator rental through Home Depot?

Was going to get a Kubota loader/hoe from Home Depot last year. They said it required a 3/4 ton pickup to pull it. Called B.S. on that as my 1/2 ton pulls 11,500 lbs. They said the company that provides them the bigger stuff for rental requires a 3/4 ton. Got one someplace else... they never...
