Looking to buy a RACE scanner!

Found some pretty good deals listed on these guys' specials page. If you called them and ordered, they could probably get them out with 2-day shipping and you'd have them in time for the race. http://www.racescanners.com/current-specials.php

Would anyone be interested in GJ T-shirts?

I will buy one either way to help support the site. But I completely agree with Jeep's comments. I have so many car-show shirts with logos plastered across the front, but my favorite Ts have a small logo on front and something different on back. I would suggest something simple like the site...

Looking to buy a RACE scanner!

The wife and I are using Uniden SC230 scanners. These scanners are not the cheapest thing you can find, but they have the most channels and dynamic memory operation, which allows them to be used at multiple races. Most everyone prefers scanners with at least 200 channels so that the channel...

    Quality Air Tools

Dude, you've got as many air ratchets as I have regular ratchets. What does your hand tool drawer look like??? :wtf:

How useful is a butterfly impact wrench?

FO I think you're right. I ought to buck up for a regular 3/8" impact. I'd probably find it more useful than the butterfly. Those composite IRs sure look nice....you guys are a bad influence. I hope my wife don't find this site.

How useful is a butterfly impact wrench?

FWIW I did not see the need for one UNTIL a neighbor loaned me one for a project I was working on. I was working on something that was a little too tight for an air ratchet so he grabbed his butterfly and dang if it didn't work perfectly. So I bought a cheaper Porter Cable and used the ****...

my wife thinks my tractor is ****

There was an article in 1960s IIRC Popular Mechanics magazine about using a Volkswagon transaxle to build a tractor similar to that. Cool project!

How useful is a butterfly impact wrench?

I've got that exact IR butterly impact. I use it (own it) instead of a 3/8" impact gun. Very handing for bolts/nuts in the 1/2-3/4" range where they are not torqued to high ranges...stuff like fender bolts, brackets, intake manifold bolts, etc. It's faster than an air ratchet and higher...

Length: SK long pattern wrenches vs. Craftsman Pro wrenches

I compared them myself for a recent purchase. Here's what I found: I compared the 9/16 and 3/4" wrench lengths as these are the sizes I use most. I found the lengths of SK long and Cman pro to be identical (within 1/8"). I checked 5-6 other brands as well. I found Snap-On standard length...

    Next tool purchases for everyone??

Don't you believe that for a minute. Sure, if you're setting out to win the 24 Hours of Daytona, solid axle is not your best choice. But you can have plenty of fun with a solid axle car in Solo events. Proper tires, boxed control arms, good springs, and shocks will help if you're going to...

Tools That you Wouldn't BUY AKA. Tools that ****!!

My father-in-law gave me a pair of Robogrips for Christmas one year. Problem number one, he is the last guy who should be buying tools for anyone, even himself. Problem number two, Robogrips are the worst tool ever invented. Those cheap aluminum sheet metal brakes sold by HF and Northern Tool...

How can I learn to MIG weld?

How can I learn to MIG weld?

Don't just buy one at Sears. If I remember right, they have lower-end machines in stock. Find someone who is knowledgable to help you make a purchase decision. 220v is nice, but you can do many auto-related project with just a 110v unit. What you should look for is a nice Miller, Lincoln or...

    Edumacate Me on Punches...

I've got the Craftsman punch & chisel set, which includes 6 straight punches, 2 taper, 4 chisels, and 2 center punches. The straight punches have worked fine for all the roll pins on my Mopars, including the strut rods and the steering coupler. The chisels have come in handy a few times for...

    Craftsman Bag Sale

You guys are definitely a bad influence. Picked up a second Cman Pro wrench set (1/4 - 1). It just fit in the bag. I had been looking at an SK long profile set on sale on the tool warehouse for $140, but the Cman Pro set is $99 to start with and 10% off in the bag. I couldn't resist. Also...

    Rechargeable flashlights

I agree. I don't use a flashlight enough to justify the expense of a rechargeable one. But I picked up a couple flashlight bodies cheap on ebay for use with my Makita 12v tool batteries. Works out well.

    Tool carts

Are you talking about a service cart, or a tool storage chest? I don't have room in the garage for too many cabinets or for moving them often, so when I bought a bigger (41") set last year I sold off both my smaller chest/cabinet combo and the "project center" than I had. I did pick up a...

Impact sockets: what kind do you have?

    - IR extra large sockets 3/4" drive and up, Taiwan - IR SAE and metric shallow and deep in 1/2" drive, Taiwan - IR SAE and metric shallow 3/8", Taiwan - CH deep metric 3/8", ??? No problems with any of them. The IRs seemed like decent quality with a fair price which was important at the time...
