    Impact vs Regular Socket

You will be fine. 1 1/8" is a beefy socket it will stand up to an impact.

Williams screwdrivers vs Snap-on classic hard handles

http://www.toolsdelivered.com/ They have most Williams/Bahco/CDI tools. I bought the 6 piece slotted and the 6 piece Phillips sets, they come in soft pouches.

    Husky Hand Tools

I have a set of their screwdrivers. I've broken a few of them using them as prybars (not recommended) and they gave me new ones no problem.

Seeking help from contractors with build planning/pricing/shopping

You can fit an upstairs apartment in a 16' foot eave line. Since you are in NY you will have a steep roof slope for snow, plenty of "attic room", vaulting the ceiling will add lots of ceiling height.. All depends on how big the upstairs will be but figure 1 to 2 feet depth of floor...

    Used Snap On Toolbox Price

I was going it say it's a KRL1022 but it has an extra short drawer section. Anyways, I'd say 3k-5k around here for a Kr1000 style Snap-on with locker depending on condition. Either way its around 11k new

Seeking help from contractors with build planning/pricing/shopping

I work for a commercial contractor but I am not a contractor myself, just to be clear. It seems you are torn between project management (one guy in charge, hires out HIS subs) and general contractor (one guy in charge, hires out lowest bid). Personally, I prefer project management. The projects...

    Jack Stands - Poll

This is what I am afraid of. I use the HF's for extra **** like the subframe that is currently out of my dad's Nova. Snap-ons are the go to's (heaviest I have is my k5 Blazer) and hence why I will be getting 2 sets of Hein Werners. I'd gladly pay $100 for a pair of stands that wont flex while...

    Makita COO

All over the place. I have Chinese and Japanese made Makita stuff. I do believe the 5/8 hammer drill that Home Depot sells is made in USA.

    Jack Stands - Poll

1 pair HF 3 ton 1 pair HF 6 ton 1 pair Snap-on 6 ton (not mine, dads) The HF's are good but whimpy compared to the Snap-ons, smaller footprint too. I'd like to get 2 pairs of Hein-Werner 6 ton when I have my own garage. Visually, they appear the same as SO, I wouldn't be surprised if HW made...

is this old school pneumatic lift worth using?

looks like it would come in handy for changing riding mower blades. If you have the space and it is next to free why not?

    6 pt or 12pt?

6 pt for sure. For the 1% just buy the few sockets you know you need for now, you can always add more later. If you are just a helper, I imagine you could borrow the occasional 25/32 12 point semi-deep impact 9/32 drive when the time comes. Online is almost always cheaper. I have been buying...

What is an exceptionally good 18 volt drill these days?

I own and use the Makita LXT tools everyday and I am very happy with them. The Makita compact 18 volt with a small battery is like holding air!
