    Reparing a makita drill

A 6172D switch is $40, at that point it's probably not worth it considering you can get many 12 volt and 18 volt drills for around $100, with two new batteries and a warranty. I've got an old 9.6 makita but it just sits because the batteries are so expensive (mine are junk) and the drill is very...

    Poured cement garages

And as far as paint is concerned, the block should be pressure washed (exterior) to remove any loose paint or paint chalk, then sealed and painted. Good sealers make all the differences here!

    Poured cement garages

For small stuff like signs and light shelves, the best thing is to use Tapcon style concrete anchors. 1/4" are much better than 3/16" tapcons. Buy the screws with hex heads, much easier to install than phillips head unless you need a flush mount head for some reason. For anything heavy like a...

    Williams Screwdriver Set

I just received a set of the Williams hard handles last week. I have compared them side by side with Snap On hard handles. My digital camera is on the fritz so i can't post pics at the moment. The biggest difference I have noticed is that the Williams have a visual line running down the handle...

    Corded hammer drill recommendation

I have the older version of the Milwaukee, made by AEG in Germany. Can't go wrong with a Bosch Bulldog SDS, I've used one for years putting in concrete anchors. I also have the Makita 1" SDS from Home Depot, comes with free grinder

Have you ever met a toolbag you liked...

I use a 17 inch Husky tool bag nearly every day and it is quite nice for $20. Stiff construction and holding up well. http://tinyurl.com/76qzsj2 The 10 inch is nice too if you only need a few things and don't feel like jamming your pockets with Channellocks, Kleins, screwdrivers etc.

    Tool allowance...does this exist?

No tool allowance but I do get free consumables for jobsites such as drill bits, saw blades etc. Truck allowance of 100 a month (rolling tool box I guess). I know people that used to have tool allowances for construction jobs but most all of them we're union jobs up north. Some local dealerships...

    Anyone actually use stubby screwdrivers?

I currently have six stubby screwdrivers acquired through various kits sitting in my toolbox. I have never used one, not a single time. Is there some hidden use for these? Or do they simply make a 4 piece screwdriver set a 6 piece screwdriver set.

    1/2" Dr socket set

I carry a set of SAE HF Pittsburgh impact sockets in 1/2 drive in my truck. I use them with a HF breaker bar for tightening anchor bolts, building steel and and concrete anchors around the job site. Super cheap, lifetime warranty and I wont be out much if I loose them or they get stolen. They...

WTF do we have to do to prevent Impact Gun overkill?

I worked for Advance auto for two semesters in college. We had a Sear's service store about 1 mile down the road, they broke lugnut studs almost daily. One day I ran out to deliver 1 stud and 1 lug nut. I got there (5 minutes) and they told me they needed another set. They tech had broke another...
