    Armstrong MAXX Ratchets.

Maybe it's because he realized his C-man and Armstrong ratchets are the same with a different handle?

How does a Snapon Extension Connector work?

Interesting tool Then buy a forge, chrome shop, presses, grinders, mills, polishers, buildings, and employees. Insure it all, develop a delivery system nationwide and sell one for less. If this tool saves a mechanic time which turns into pay greater than $20 it is advantageous to buy one and...

    Homemade Tools

Not too fancy but I made this when trying to get a snapped off seized starter bolt out of my Detroit 6.2. Extractors where not working, drilled a slightly off center hole into the bolt, made this tool thinking I would have enough torque to twist out the broken bolt (broken inside the hole). 20...

Took a trip to Tractor Supply and Sears. USA, China and Taiwan

This is not how things work, please read a economics book that isn't written by sophists. In an unmanipulated free market, specialization is what advances everyone's standard of living. If Indian businessmen can figure they can run a call center for 1/5 of the price of an American one, it would...

The start of my own tools.

Why not keep the 12pt chrome and get 6 point impacts? 12pt fasteners are common inside engines and OEM's love to put them in odd spots. You will eventually need some. 6pt vs 12pt has been covered here A LOT but I don't think the tool gods will shun you if you use 12pt on a 6pt bolt for a while...

    Which is more useful?

There a quite a few places where 3/8 drive just does not fit on modern cars and equipment. You may not need 1/4" drive everyday but when you need it, you NEED it, usually with a swivel too.

A local sign company can do it if they have the right printer. I have construction signs made all the time with printed graphics of architect drawings.

    88 teeth vs 36 teeth.

Not necessarily. Consider transmission and axle shafts, higher spline count = more surface area = stronger connection. For ratchets it is a little different because not all teeth are engaged at once but the new fine tooth designs are pretty damn stout.

    Williams Ratchets

The handle is different, the head housing is slightly different, it does not say "on" and "off" next to the direction lever like SO but the mechanism is the same. You are not exactly paying for the "name" when buying Snap on (or any other truck brand vs. industrial brand) you are paying for a...

    Acquiring the 'bucket of nails'

I remember going to Ace with my dad and getting nails out of those bins, years ago. I don't think I've seen one in 15 years (I'm 23). I always try to buy hardware (screws and nails) in 5 pound boxes which saves some money. I work for a general contractor so most of my "stock" has been acquired...

    Williams Ratchets

I have a 3/8 standard length 36 tooth and it is a good ratchet, especially for the money. The internals are exactly the same as my FX936. I plan on getting the Williams long 1/2dr. 36 tooth ratchet with my next toolsdelivered order ($38)

    sds drills

The most common SDS chuck design is "SDS Plus" which will cover most drilling needs for general concrete work such as tap-cons, smaller core drilling, wedge ancor holes etc. under 1 1/2" (usually) The other common SDS chuck is SDS-Max. This is for bigger chipping and demo hammers. SDS max has...

Opininions on HF floorjack as a gift.

I've had the 4 ton HF jack since Christmas to replace my dying Craftsman 3 ton and it has done well (used it about 5 times). It is pretty damn heavy though so I may get an aluminum jack for times when I go to a friends to help out, something to consider.
