Fair price for an older Delta Press

Hey guys, what's a fair price for one of these drill presses? I may be going to look at one later today but I don't really know what a fair price price would be. I'm used to picking up Craftsman 150s for $100-$200. The owner of this press is asking 500. But I do like the style and just...

    Socket ID please

Hey guys, can anyone identify the manufacturer of this socket? Just curious as I have never seen this mark before. There is a sideways trapezoid on either side, and aside from that, no other markings.

    My new old workbench

I picked up this old workbench from the estate of a Ham Radio enthusiast / watchmaker. I guesstimate the date of this from 1930 and 1950, due to the vintage 7up beverage crate piece he used when it was constructed. It's got a couple of neat features, including the knee-activated on off switch...

    Delta 768 10in Band Saw

Picked up this Band saw with a General Electric 1.5hp motor about two weeks ago at a garage sale. Seller had a $25 tag on it, and I really didn't want it, so I offered $20 kind of hoping he would turn it down. In hindsight, I was glad he took my offer. After all, I had a retirement light I...

    Craftsman 109.22370 12in Disc Sander

I picked up this Disc Sander a few months back from an estate sale. It worked great, but could use a little cleaning up. I already had it apart before I started taking pics, but here are some of the unit before and after cleanup / repaint. The table it's sitting on I made out of a re-puposed...

U.S. Electrical Tool Co. Grinder restoration

Well, I figured I'd start a thread on the restoration of this Grinder, so far it's been a fun project. The Grinder is a US Electrical Tool Co. combination grinder. I reached out to the manufacturer for a date, but have not heard back from them as of yet. As found: Beginning...

    Question on old motor construction

Hey guys, I started to take apart the grinder I picked up about a week ago, I thought my plan was going to be simple. Disassemble it, send out to have the parts powder coated, go over the wiring, and re-assemble. So as far as I can tell it has two coats of paint or maybe just one. The top...

    Bought a new welder!

I'd like to learn to weld, and from what I've read I figured I'd pick up a cheap mig welder to learn on. I work in IT, so this is just for DIY/Hobby purposes. Anyway, I was at my local Sears hometown store today which is finally closing up after many many years. I'm going to miss them, It has...

    Ancient Drill Press

Ok, so this one deserves its own thread I think. It's currently posted on CL in Central NJ. Where else can you get this much vintage iron for only $125?! No affiliation whatsoever. http://cnj.craigslist.org/tls/5912873145.html

    Craftsman Circle H swivel sockets

Just finished cleaning these up with some simple green, and a little time with the wire wheel. There's just something about the steel these circle H series are made of.... I'm glad they don't have a bigger following. They can still be found relatively easily, and are still very affordable.

Craftsman Belt / Disc Sander 103.08011

Here's a refurbished Belt / Disc sander from the 40's we recently completed. Completely disassembled, cleaned, and repainted. The pedestal is from a bandsaw, and the platform it sits on is actually a belt cover from a Craftsman Drill press that I re-purposed. The motor is a Dunlap 1/2 HP...

    Little Stillson Pattern Wrench

I'm a sucker for the little ones. Here's an "Aetna Tool Co." wrench I picked up over the weekend. It cleaned up really nice. Still working on getting the grime off the handle, trying to do it a little at a time. Hope to find me one of them mini Parker vises one of these days.

    Old Crowbar

I picked this up over the weekend. Is this just how they used to make crowbars back in the day? Or was it for a specific purpose?

Wow! I'm speechless! Can someone enlighten me as to why this craftsman socket set would go for so much money? Excuse my ignorance, thanks...

    Age Appropriate Tappet Wrench

So I'm slowly filling up the craftsman wall cabinet I picked up this last fall with period correct tools and came across two sets of Tappet wrenches, but was wondering which of the two sets would be the better match date-wise for the cabinet? The cabinet dates from approx. 1954-1959 I believe...

    Can you spot it?

So I'm just browsing pictures of some upcoming sales online when I see this little gem peaking up at me. Can anyone else spot it? It's a much sought after vintage tool.

What would you do with this?

This has been offered to me for free. I can't think of what I would use it for. The steel is a heavy gauge, so it may be useful for some things. It doesn't spin, but I could fix that. Any ideas, or pass?
