    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

You did, fortunately for the ladies well being the concrete had cured enough that she didn't leave a foot print. I just shake my head at how some people are just totally oblivious to the obvious. You just can't fix stupid. 2019-05-12_10-29-47 by Joe Unger, on Flickr Neat story with the...

    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

One step closer to getting the sign pole put up. Wet spring weather played into my favor this week, as soggy ground put many of my concrete contractors scheduled work on hold. Because of that he was able to get my project done 6 or 7 weeks sooner than expected. IMG_20190510_211629_559 by Joe...

    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

I was going to wait until work started on this project to bring it up, but with this article in the newspaper today I figured it would be a good time to let the cat out of the bag so to speak. The middle of last summer a local non-profit came to me asking if I would be interested in doing a...

    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

We get a lot of wind just like I'm sure you do in Kansas, I want to make sure it stays in place. The footing will be 5 feet deep, 2 feet diameter with the anchor studs embedded in the concrete.

It will be going up by the sidewalk to the north of Dino, right at the end of the wall. That is the main east/west corridor through town. When the station was open it was still Iowa 141. The original sign pole was in basically the same spot just on the east side of the drive right on the corner.

    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

I actually have two of those pictures hanging in the station (the 2 inside pics). They have a bit of a story behind them. That was a station in southern Missouri that was one of the winners of a contest Sinclair done in 1956 called "The winning look" It was a contest amongst Sinclair stations to...

    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

Some warmer weather has finally arrived. Done a little blasting on the sign pole. It cleaned up pretty well. Still need to get the ring blasted. I plan on getting my concrete guy out this week to see what its going to take to get a base poured to anchor the pole to. 20190324_125952 by Joe...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT "DaBarn"

I've had that same 3-in-1 for 5 or 6 years now. Its been good to me. I use the shear the most, but the press brake comes in handy from time to time. 2019-03-17_10-45-38 by Joe Unger, on Flickr

    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

I have read about the Perry, GA station. There is also one in Perry, Oklahoma that is still open today. I believe it dates back to around 1937 if my memory serves me correct. I would like to thank you for the link to the thread on the HAMB. I borrowed several pics from it.

    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

I spent a couple hours yesterday basically rearranging about 3/4ths of all the signs in the front bay to make room for a sign pole banner and heavy cardstock sign I bought from a Nebraska auction a couple weeks ago, I was excited to get them especially the atomic blast one. 20190308_213403...

    1935 Gas Station Resurrection

Best advice I can give is keep an eye on craiglist or Facebook ads from the Texas/Oklahoma areas. I see the smaller 4ft tall ones advertised quite a bit. The taller 6ft ones like I have I've only seen a couple in the last few years.

Been a minute since I have been on here. Lots of planning for spring projects, but other than a few new display items there hasn't been much to talk about. Typically they are either black or white. I'm going with black.. All the street light poles in the downtown district are black, i want the sign to compliment the streetscape not be the main focus.
