It was engineered to carry 4 full size trucks and all my tooling. It was a lot of work but went together in about 4 months.

    Compressor Plumbing in Large Shop

I used rapid air in my first shop and really liked it. The fitting get expensive so good planning will save you some money. My second shop I used 1” black pipe for all the long runs and rapid air for the drops.

    Bench top material?

I’ve made several and covered them with Formica. They have held up well to chemicals and general abuse. I recently picked up some corian tops that were being tossed. Very stable material.

    rattle_snake's random shop projects v0.1

With all the dropped beams done in the past you would have thought someone would have made a dropped spindle/knuckle with the correction for the draglink. Congrats on the new position at work.

    rattle_snake's random shop projects v0.1

Justin, not sure if Mor-drop is still in business but they used to take stock beams and reforge them with 2 and 3” drops. I looked at them for a project years ago. Keeps geometry very close and still uses stock parts. The beams I’ve seen lately are built up from plate and look like garbage...

    MP&C Shop Projects

Mike I just went to have one of my old radiators recored and was “shocked” at the cost. The new core was over $500 and total cost was close to $1000. I could not believe it. I know copper and brass have gotten pricey but DANG. luckily the shop does a lot of work for my brothers business...

    2 post lift foot print?

If you read Mohawks manual for a retrofit footing for their lifts is as I showed and described. I do also have a degree in architectural engineering and have been involve in the designed and construction of projects all over the globe. Sorry if my 30% safety factor seems wasteful but most all...

Justin your level of detail is awe inspiring. Thanks for posting all the little things. Most people never notice or see them but those are the things I seek to find on peoples builds.

    2 post lift foot print?

Just remember it’s not the punch through force you have to be concerned with. The base plates are large enough to prevent that. It’s rotating force that will pull the anchors out of the concrete. I’ve installed 2 lifts in my shops and over design the slabs because my life or the life of a...

    Kenmore 90 series electric dryer

Looks like I managed to fix it. Everything back apart and cleaned the motor really well. Lots of lint build up around the windings that I had missed before. I assume the motor wasn’t overheating because it would always start right back up but quit in about 10 min. Just ran a load of heavy wet...

    Kenmore 90 series electric dryer

Kenmore dryer is shutting done after about 10-15 mins. It will start right back up. Pulled it apart and cleaned everything, all connections look good. Heating element will cycle on and off so temperature controls are working. Thermal fuse seems ok as it actually runs and heats. Door switch...

Suitable paint for Drywall and OSB

I’m partial to oil based PVA primer and oil based GLOSS paint. Easy to clean, reflects light well and is more durable than latex.

Seems like a nightmare to pack up an entire garage. When is the last time you moved (your entire tools & garage) ?

It *****! No two ways about it. We moved 5 years ago. My shop was just under 1100 sf with another 500 of unconditioned storage. I filled a 53’ moving van with tools, parts, equipment, engines, transmissions etc. it took a year to get the new shop built almost double in size but I dread if I...
