Garage floor painting - uneven concrete blocks

That's a good idea. Was planning on primer and some paint on the walls.

    Repainting painted garage walls

Here's the dried wall with 123, you can see the brownish hue and stain bleed (1st, 2nd attachment). And BIN works like charm. I just spot primed a few stains and they are gone (not sure if they will show up a lil when dry) but here are some before/after pics. (3rd, 4th, 5th attachments) Of...

    Repainting painted garage walls

Right, l'm gonna fix those. But barring those, is it normal for the drywall to bleed thru the primer? And I do mind it a bit, so it matters a bit too. :)

    Repainting painted garage walls

I applied 123 on one of the walls (smaller with lesser stains). The primer didn't block the stains completely. You can't tell from a distance but as you step closer, you can see the stains clearly. Also, the whole wall looks brownish except for the part where the tape and mud are. Is this...

Garage floor painting - uneven concrete blocks

Yeah, that's true and that's what I'm leaning towards anyway. But it never hurts to ask the experienced ones. If nothing, just to learn something new. I was thinking of using the same epoxy floor paint. I have more than enough even after 15% area reduction.

    Nice, thanks!

    Repainting painted garage walls

Hmm, that's a lot of work though. Most of it will get hidden behind shelves and storage so I'm kinda Ok with a lesser level of finish.

    Repainting painted garage walls

Actually, I'm not sure if it's paint or if its just the white side of the drywall board. I think its the later. If so, then its just paper and a primer coat should do, right?

    Repainting painted garage walls

Nails are behind the tape, I checked. At least on my walls. I used them to find my studs earlier too. And given that my ceiling hasn't dropped (like my neighbor's), I trust they are pretty well nailed as well. Zinser 123 looks good. Available in my local homedepot as well.

Garage floor painting - uneven concrete blocks

I did try chiseling/hammering on some that were more on the floor. They broke off kinda easily. But yeah, its bit off work for sure.

    Repainting painted garage walls

The tape I think is drywall tape holding the joints. I'm OK with them. I'm thinking 2 coats of primer will make them less obvious. And then with topcoat they will be almost invisible. So on the walls, just clean it with a stiff brush and apply topcoat?

    Repainting painted garage walls

I have partly painted garage - the ceilings are bare and the wall is painted but is old and rusty. I'm thinking of painting them over for a new refreshing look. Do I need to sand them first? Do I need to add primer to the bare ceiling and walls or just the ceiling? I found some articles that...

Garage floor painting - uneven concrete blocks

I'm prepping my garage to apply the Rustoleum floor epoxy. But I'm not sure what to do with the concrete blocks. There are few problems that I see: Concerete droppings causing uneven surface Uneven spacing with the drywall Uneven height I'm thinking of painting them with same epoxy floor...

    Multiple studs at random spacing

Oh wow! That's helpful to know!

LOL yeah. Maybe they were husband/wife? :)

    Multiple studs at random spacing

Found my pattern (see attachment). The ones circled (or squared if you must) are 16" apart. The secondary ones are also pretty consistent - they are 24" apart. This is all through magnet. Zircon e50 SF gets confused by the close vicinity of the secondary studs (although it did find those...

    Multiple studs at random spacing

Yeah makes sense you're redoing stuff. For me, I just want to accurately locate them so that I can drill the 2x4 strips correctly. The shelves would accumulate storage items over time so I want them to be sturdy enough to support the weight.

    Multiple studs at random spacing

Gonna find that out once I get off work. Ha ha ok. I know what a fire block is. Should have guessed. Autocorrect is the best! LOL

    Multiple studs at random spacing

There is very good noise isolation between the homes. Not sure what a file block is. I'll drill to find out eventually but you may have a point about neighbor's but my drywalls are fastened to them as well (magnet confirms this). I'm going to use SF and magnet on the entire length and other...

    Multiple studs at random spacing

I'm trying to hang shelves on them, something like these (see attachment). It goes into normal spacing on the opposite wall. I think there is one stud at odd spacing there too (could be a measurement error since I only have used magnet on that so far) but most of the studs are at 16" spacing...
