White corrugated metal ceiling and wall covering.

I have white metal ceiling in my garage with plywood walls. 30x40. One tip is to have them roll the metal upside down so the white side is the flat side. It looks much better that way ( all the ribs are up )

    Mini Split Install

I will use the 15a and 14 wire. I was confused as to why they suggested 20a. Should have it done this weekend and then I either get a pump and gauge set or find someone to do it for me

    Mini Split Install

I called the supplier today to confirm the electrical requirements and they told me the unit is rated for a double 15 breaker and will run just fine that way but —- they recommend 20a ? I have everything for the 15a run so maybe I will just do that?

    Mini Split Install

No, it’s not open to the garage. It’s also not a living place, just finishing it. I may use it as a place to sit around during work breaks. Don’t know for sure but the cost of the mini split is low if I can do it myself

    Mini Split Install

Well, the unit arrived. Looks good and I will figure out the path for the line set this weekend. I’m not sure of the wire size, the manual says 1.5 wire, the breaker is a double 20 so I assume 12 g wire? I have a bunch of 14 here but I assume that’s too small? I will run the wire in emt to the...

    Mini Split Install

This is what I’m thinking. There is a kit on amazon for a couple of hundred bucks, I don’t need to do any flaring, the length of the line set is about right and it goes through a crawl space so I can leave any excess in there, some sealant and done?

    Mini Split Install

Hi: I am going to be installing a 12,000 btu senville mini split and I have a few questions. This will be for a loft over my garage, the garage has heating (radiant tube) and the loft is an extra space (650 sq ft with 10 ft vaulted ceiling) and will be used if we have visitors that wish to...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

This is the one I’m going to order. They have a 10% off sale right now as well. I will mount the outside unit on the wall. I won’t need to trim the lines, I have a cubby hole that I can coil the extra in. I will run the lines on the inside wall and make a small box to hide them. Are you going to...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

It’s a fairly simple install but I will need to find someone to vac the lines. A few people have said that these units won’t heat well below 32 f. That’s not a big deal for me but some say it will? I do have a quote for a 12000 Mitsubishi for around 4K installed. If it was a much better unit...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

Hi: I'm looking for some advice here. I am in Ontario (Canada) and i have a 650 sq ft loft over my garage. The garage is heated in the winter (keep it about 55) and everything is very well insulated (2x6 and pink fibreglass) The loft has a 54" walls and about a 10 ft vaulted ceiling. We...

looking for a wifi 3 way switch, similar to Lutron Caseta

I haven’t tried this but i think with the smart bridge you could create a scene and it should work. You could also use Alexa or google home to activate the switch. Insteon will work and I think Feit would work as well. These two use the neutral wire for communication so you need both a neutral...

Prime Day deals on T8 bulbs. What's best?

I’m in Canada and just bought 12 x t8 bypass led’s from Amazon.ca for 107$. They made a big difference and the conversion is simple, you can cut the wires and leave the ballast in the fixture if you wish

Solder seal wire connectors - any good?

I just replaced all the lights on my trailer (changed to led’s). Used that exact same product and a heat gun. They worked great and were easy to install. I’m sure it’s waterproof and you could tell when the solder melted easily enough. I just trimmed the bare ends so they overlapped at the...

    Pole barn panel question

I took Norcal’s advice and swapped out the panel. To fix the wiring issue I dropped the panel about a foot and shortened the damaged wire . Feel much better about this now. What do you guys think about the rest of the wiring? It’s all sound, no damage, but I wonder if I should change it all out...

    Pole barn panel question

The wire is buried and runs from the house. I would say 300’. It is what you see in the photo and has been in use for around 30 years. The ground is connected now, it’s a short feed to a 5 HP compressor that is now dead. I can scrap that and would like to make everything safe. I can’t pull any...

    Pole barn panel question

Yes, there were open knockouts I have addressed that now. Is a plastic 4x4 box fine? What would you use for the splice? It is 8AWG 3

    Pole barn panel question

Hi I have mouse damage to the feed for the panel in my pole barn. I can’t pull any more wire and need to make this safe. I could lower the box a foot or so but it is a bit close to a water source if I do that. I’m wondering if it is ok to splice the wire in a waterproof box and run a new wire...

How to make water drain out to garage door

I have an epoxy floor and use the GMat under my daily drivers in the winter. It does a great job of keeping the water under the car and sending it towards the door -- the area between the cars stays dry and clean (I only have the mats under the cars not in the isle). FYI, I live in Ontario...
