If you've never done it before, I did a youtube vid of the complete teardown and reassembly. It's on a 42470 1/2", but the process is the same for yours, just smaller.

I habitually wear gloves when I use my tools, so the knurling works wonderfully for me, especially with a little grease or oil on my hands. The newer ratchets seem to have much softer knurling, which doesn't stick as well, and makes me head to eBay for older models. Thanks! I use both...

Good luck! I just finished rebuilding the diamond logo 45170 and 42470. The knurled sockets that came with them need serious cleaning and de-rust treatment. My little solvent jars for the ratchet parts won't work for these. Time for something bigger once I get a paycheck.
