Has anyone built a 2 x 72 belt grinder for their shop?

I bought a rebuilt motor from a local motor shop for $225 in 2019. Then got a TECO FM50 that was on sale at Dealers electric for $150 also in 2019. It was basically an outdated model but fully enclosed and more than capable. Also there are some cheap non-enclosed VFDs that you could easily...

Has anyone built a 2 x 72 belt grinder for their shop?

I built Jeremy Schmidt's gen 1 belt grinder. He has a gen 2 now which can be built to use different motor frames if I recall correctly. Great tool.

Anyone Build Your Own Fixture Table?

He also sells plans for a table that uses a bunch of his machined 10 or 12 inch plates. He used to have a build video of it but I think it got lost. He also used to sell a tool to get all the plates perfectly aligned IIRC.

Anyone build a 2x72 belt grinder?

Hey Brian, Do you have an overview video for your belt grinder? I looked for one on your channel but couldn't find one. Your channel is great by the way.

Another Irish Version of a Welding Table!

I've think I'm being too picky. I wanted the belt dead center on all the wheels with no tracking adjustment needed. I've got machinist squares out, straight edge, fireball squares, etc trying to get it to run dead on. It's definitely close enough but I can't run the belt backwards and forwards...

Another Irish Version of a Welding Table!

Looking great! Do you have to use your tracking knob often on your belt grinder with different belts? I'm at the "tweaking" point on my belt grinder build but I only have one belt to test with. I can get it to track by hand but it's not running in the middle of the drive or idler wheel. I...

    horizontal bandsaw

I don't bother with coolant as I don't use my bandsaw that often. I've been using STICK-KUT wax stick. I had another brand but it was way too hard and required the blade to get hot before it would flow.

    SWAG V3.0 Portaband Table

I jumped on a M18 fuel portaband/angle grinder combo at Home Depot a few days ago. Ordered the V4 table and the miter gauge. I'll let you know how I like it. I'm sure I could build one a lot cheaper but I'd rather put the time into other projects.

Tree Journeyman 425 CNC milling machine control retrofit

I'm in East Wenatchee. I bought a lathe about a year ago and I've been on the hunt for a mill ever since. Figured I would start with Bridgeport but I love the idea of doing a control retrofit someday.

Another Irish Version of a Welding Table!

It wouldn't be very exciting. I pretty much just followed Jeremy's plans. I better make sure it works before I start a thread haha.

I will be following along and stealing as much as I can. I'm just about done building Jeremy's belt grinder.

1st metal lathe....basic beginner cutters carbide or hss?

What's the max RPM on that lathe? I use carbide and hss on my 10" Logan. I have a set of the SCxx holders from Precision Mathews. Grinding HSS is a good skill to have and it can be surprisingly forgiving. Look up the vertical shear tool. Super easy to grind and leaves a nice finish on 1018...
