    Air Drills

What style and max rpm range air drill would you want for this? I don't have any air drills yet, this would be a great excuse to get one or two. Also would the same apply to the 3M radial bristle discs/brushes?

Chicago Pneumatic die grinder diagnosis: Is this broken snap ring causing this clamp nut to loosen?

Thanks, I'm tightening it with little needlenose pliers and mini flathead screwdriver, it doesn't seem to be able to budge past a certain point. I have a pin spanner but it can't actually engage the slots, see pic -- is there a type of curved head pliers for these? And I can try loctite, but...

Chicago Pneumatic die grinder diagnosis: Is this broken snap ring causing this clamp nut to loosen?

I'm pretty sure, I couldn't find a photo of this specific part but here's one of another Chicago Pneumatic snap ring, it has flared ends like in the diagram, with holes in them I guess for the snap ring pliers. I'm also not clear on what the causal link would be between those ends being broken...

Chicago Pneumatic die grinder diagnosis: Is this broken snap ring causing this clamp nut to loosen?

By the way, if anyone ever needs the collet nut and 1/4" collet for a CP856, CP862, or CP863, they're listed as obsolete, but the part number for the cross-compatible collet nut is 8950250417. And their parts department doesn't list a new version of the collet, but someone in engineering at...

Chicago Pneumatic die grinder diagnosis: Is this broken snap ring causing this clamp nut to loosen?

Chicago Pneumatic CP863 (old Japan made 120 degree angle die grinder). As the above video shows, the clamp nut (part 5 here) gradually unscrews itself in use. After a few minutes of use, it stops engaging under power and just exhausts air rather than spin until the nut is tightened again. It...

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Air tool oil is only for putting in the tool inlet, right? What kind of grease is recommended on the gears in the tool, would Blaster white lithium grease work?

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Very cool, thanks! That's an impressive difference, will be a worthwhile project for sure. Makes you wonder why the manufacturers of big box store compressors don't bother to try to make them quieter, it wouldn't cost much. Do you have any other recommended mods?

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Also, do any owners of this or similar compressors have a muffler installed on it or have thoughts on whether it's worth doing? Mine is in a 2-car garage, walling it off isn't really an option for space reasons, and the noise is a little more than I expected.

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

For the others who bought this compressor -- it looks like the factory put the power switch on mine upside down, is that right and it so should I try to tighten or loosen it a half turn? It makes it very difficult to access the screw that clamps onto the shielding for your power cord, so I can't...

    Astro Pneumatic Tool Company

Is your pencil grinder suitable for polishing in the range of 7500-20K RPM (recommended for mini buffing wheels, cratex points, etc)? Or will it lose too much power running at well under half its max rpm of 56K?

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Yes but the battery die grinders are too bulky, I'm doing surface prep in tight corners where something bigger than the typical mini air die grinder often won't reach everywhere. There's really no electric equivalent of those, especially the 120/45 degree angle ones. Also the air tools are cheap...

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Thanks, got one. The quick connect coupler I have right now has a 1/4" male end, that's the only restriction under 1/2" before the hose reel right now -- would I get noticeably better performance if I swap it out with a coupler with 3/8" male end? I grabbed this Flexzilla 7-piece 3/8" fittings...

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

What's the type of hose I'll want to run between the tank and wall mounted filter/regulator -- is it just a short run of regular 3/8" air hose like the ones sold as whip hoses? I have a Grainger nearby if anyone wants to point me to the right product. So far I have a 3/4" ****** from the tank to...

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Also, I just noticed the owner's manual insists I can't run the compressor on its shipping pallet. Why is that and what's everyone's thoughts on whether it's actually a problem?

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Does anyone run a compressor in a garage that often has pretty dusty air? I have an industrial pedestal buffer in the other corner of the garage that I run most days, with cotton airway wheels that throw a lot of dust around. I have an air scrubber running at all times but it's still a pretty...

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

I'm working on copying this setup, except probably with some flexible hose to the filter mounted on wall for space reasons. A lot of threads on here say you need an air dryer before the filter regulator, is that only necessary if you're using certain types of tools like paint sprayers? I'm...

Also for those who use a lot of air die grinders, what would one rated at 12K max RPM excel at vs the more common ~18-24K ones? I'm buying a handful of old ones so I can have various abrasive bits at the ready for different tasks, the outlier in speed is the 12K RPM Dotco 10L1200B that popped up...

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Can anyone advise which air pencil grinders would work well for detail metal polishing? I'm currently using a flex shaft on pendant motor (VEVOR Foredom knockoff), it's OK but for my use I need to polish a lot of tight corners and want a skinnier tool that vibrates less in hand. I think the...

Great. Is that one listed as Powermate 072-0023RP? Didn't know about this part but it looks very handy, thanks!
