How many brands of hand tools do you own?

To name a few: Allen Armstrong AT&G Craftsman Craftsman Industrial Diamond Klein Proto SK Snap-On Stanley Of these I would have to say APEX/Danaher has dropped or interrupted their brands the most of all. SB&D is supposed to be bringing Craftsman back to life and I am hoping they will do a...

    Disapointed with Armstrong ratchets

I actually do not know if Snap-On ratchet gears are cast or fully machined. I have always heard fully machined is superior compared to cast.

    Disapointed with Armstrong ratchets

Yeah, I like to keep a set of Armstrong tools with matching Armstrong ratchets but I have my doubts about anything being shipped at this point. It sounds like people that want to keep there Armstrong tools going will have to pay for repair parts out of pocket. APEX seems like they are...

    Disapointed with Armstrong ratchets

I have heard quite a few people say they like the Armstrong ratchets. Now I am wondering if any of you have done a thread on which brands of ratchets can out last the others while under heavy use.

    Disapointed with Armstrong ratchets

When my Snap-On ratchet stopped working properly they sent a repair kit and my ratchet is old as the hills. If Armstrong is out of production will APEX send a repair kit while supplies last or replace it with a GearWrench or other product? I know I can buy Armstrong repair kits if I can find...

    Disapointed with Armstrong ratchets

Do the Snap-On ratchets have machined gear teeth like the Armstrongs do? Some say the ratchet repair kits for the Matco and GearWrench ratchets will work in the Armstrong but I do not know if they have machined gear teeth. Somebody will likely buy the Armstrong ratchet at that price shipped.

    Disapointed with Armstrong ratchets

What is the price difference between the Snap-On ratchets and the Armstrong?

Won't be buying any more Armstrong tools

Now I am reminded of how other members tell people that begin a new thread about a subject that somebody has already been discussing in an existing thread. Personally I don't care if they reinvent the same discussion or a discussion about something similar. I just like this bulletin board.

    Stainless combination squares?

Do you have a Sears near you? Maybe you can order from Sears or Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00678YBCM/?tag=atomicindus08-20 http://www.sears.com/craftsman-12-inch-stainless-steel-combination-square/p-00939567000P

    Is standard obsolete?

Personally I have not checked all fasteners on all new vehicles but a lot of people in here have been saying they have switched to metric fasteners on new vehicles. It depends on what you are working on. Do you work at a Toyota dealership or a general repair shop? Will you etch it in stone...

Best Tool to secure plywood subfloor to Joists and build boxes

Can you tell where the work is being done and if any building codes will apply? What type of use is the work intended? What size/thickness is the decking and joists? If you are simply doing something like 40psf floor framing and you only have a couple of sheets of decking I would suggest...

When will we see Armstrong closeouts at Cripe?

I am wondering if Cripe took off with most of it about a year or so ago.

When will we see Armstrong closeouts at Cripe?

I took a few pics of a Craftsman socket and an Armstrong socket. They look the same other than the eye-D and other markings. Maybe somebody will take samples from each and tell if they were made with the same steel.

When will we see Armstrong closeouts at Cripe?

*** Low alloy steels have higher tensile and yield strengths than mild steel or carbon structural steel. Since they have high strength-to-weight ratios, they reduce dead weight in railroad cars, truck frames, heavy equipment, etc. *** Ordinary carbon steels, that exhibit brittleness at low...

When will we see Armstrong closeouts at Cripe?

Hopefully I can help to understand what the differences are between some Craftsman and Armstrong tools. This explanation is based upon information they have provided from the Armstrong website and the Sears.com website. To quickly (this will take a while) sum things up the Craftsman socket...

When will we see Armstrong closeouts at Cripe?

Cripe does appear to have some new Armstrong stuff added to their store. Some of it looks like it is selling fast.

    Looking at new tools...

Some say Armstrong tools are a thing of the past but Cripe Distributing has a bunch of them. Maybe you will consider the following. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Armstrong-44-324A-3-8-Inch-Drive-12-Point-Metric-Socket-Set-13-Piece-USA-/401281658881?hash=item5d6e403001...

Sears has 'substantial doubt' that it can survive

I couldn't find the original thread about Sears being about bankrupt so I thought I would try to replace it. Sears has 'substantial doubt' that it can survive http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/22/news/companies/sears-kmart-future/ http://www.cbsnews.com/news/sears-survival-experts-are-skeptical/
