When will we see Armstrong closeouts at Cripe?

I've seen some Armstrong tools listed at Cripe for several years and they do not appear to be selling. Cripe might have trailer loads of Armstrong tools stashed away somewhere. People at Armstrong have said they had two warehouses to get flooded when their tools stopped shipping. I spoke with...

When will we see Armstrong closeouts at Cripe?

So what will APEX do with GearWrench after they exchange Armstrong warranty for the cheaper stuff? What could they replace GearWrench with and try to rip every customer off with that is cheaper? Hmmm...maybe dollar store tools.

    Socket Set Size Charts

There have been times when I wondered which drive size to keep and which of them to skip. Afterwards I realized I needed all of them so I put together a set with 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", and 3/4" drive sizes. Sometimes I had a 9/16" deep 1/2" drive socket but the socket was so large it would not fit...

    Disapointed with Armstrong ratchets

Years ago a salesperson at Sears said, "even though Sears sells Armstrong tools Sears will not perform warranty service on them even if you buy them from Sears." Although the Armstrong warranty says to take the tool back to the place of purchase Sears refused to cooperate. Currently I have no...

    Craftsman replacement policy change

Lifetime Warranties The actual scope of a so-called "lifetime" warranty often is stated in the fine print. Most often, such a warranty covers the product for its lifetime on the market. This means the lifetime warranty ends either at the time the item is discontinued or sometimes a few years...

Did you ever buy a Craftsman tape measure with a lifetime warranty? I think Ace Hardware sells a different version (31025) with a one year warranty. Anyway, the forever, or lifetime warranty on the tapes Sears used to sell is handled in a different way. Tape Measures Warranty Service To...

    Vintage Craftsman metric sockets question

I think some of the old Craftsman sockets that have a knurled band at the bottom were sold back during the 1940's. The 1950's sockets looked different in the catalog and they did not list any metrics to my knowledge. If that is true then the double line metric =v= sockets must have been sold...

    Sears closing in Scranton

That is what makes Sears really frustrating sometimes. The prices are like watching the stock market. Up down, up down, down up, down down down, up up up! You know, I have watched some Sears employees really work hard at trying to keep a good customer base coming in and buying from them...

    Vintage Craftsman metric sockets question

I took a few pictures of a small set of Craftsman double line =v= sockets to show what they look like. This set is and SAE set but it shows what type of sockets are in question. Take note of the pointed top on the letter A. Some Craftsman sockets have flat top letter A's on them.

    Vintage Craftsman metric sockets question

The catalog clip shown was taken from the 1977-1978 Craftsman Tool Catalog. It shows a metric socket with a knurled top next to an SAE socket. Sometimes you could find products at Sears a year or so earlier than when they were advertised in the catalogs or the big book might have had them...

    Vintage Craftsman metric sockets question

I remember purchasing my first Craftsman metric hand tool set back in the mid 1970's when I was a kid. If I remember, it had metric sockets that were stamped with either a v or vv on them. After that I bought a small metric socket set at Sears about a year later. It had metric sockets...
