    Soldering gun

I will give you a tip, DO NOT USE THE GUN ON ELECTRONICS.... The EMF it emits will damage electronics too fast. Also I have soldered wires in automotive when needing to lengthen a wire or shorten. I mainly leave this to areas that are sensitive to any added resistance, ignition circuits etc. I...

Alright, weekend updates.... Damn Ikea cabinets have gotten easier to assemble. Here we go. So we started off with the 2 over the workbench/desk. Then moved on to the Two above the compressor. So When your'e working alone you have to improvise to hold things up. Two Boxes on top of the...

On the front portion I would do the two 4foot end to end to cut down on wiring or do a single 8 ft there. Te 3 over the vehicles, I would spread the outside 2 a bit further outside to get a better shower of light on engine bays etc.

    Shop Window Height

You can tell who lives in rough parts of the country on this post... haha. My personal take is as follows. If you don't do major things in there like fab work or heavy mechanic, then add windows. If you are not concerned with crime etc, add windows. Best of both worlds is the 4'x1' windows...

So started by painting the ceiling in the garage, I'm working on matching texture on the repair place but still working on that, I have figured it out to get...

Thanks guys. Yes she is deff worked as a shop truck also... Few years ago headed to swap meet. Before the color change... Few Months ago before the teal while body working. This load was about 1k once the rest was on there. The step notch for the rear axle makes handling heavy loads to...

I am in Houston Tx. Yeah see what your local supplier has for sure. I know the Carrier ones have good reviews also, I wouldn't be afraid of a Gree also If they have them. I remember a few years ago finding a mini split was tough now the HVAC suppliers have them in stock around here at least...

Congrats on the clean slate man. Yeah the older homes always are a fight for sure. Calculations normally include insulation on the walls, I do not have any in my walls but 10 inches in the attic and insulated doors so I aimed a bit higher on my calculations. It was perfect all in all for what I...

So far in 2023, this is a few of the things I have tackled. 1 was the unsightly dryer vent still in the garage. That helped move the workbench/box back to the wall 7" and opened up more floor space. At that time I figured I would prepare for more overhead cabinets also, so I slid the TV over...

Figured I would put the most recent photo first. So I had picked some minds in the general chat for a while over the years. Finally have gotten things and a plan to move forward through it all. I was fighting alot of variables for my 2 car garage. Main one early was the washer and dryer in...

    Mini split installation

Personally I would slide the outside unit or inside unit to not coil the lines, Yes you can cut off the extra hose within reason, alot of them have minimum recommended length for a reason of harmonics etc. Like mentioned above coiling the line can cause trapping and that can cause compressor...

    The 2 car garage shuffle.

Thanks man. I have gotten to the point where If I need a match, I take and cut a hole out of the sheet rock and bring the loose piece to home depot, they scan and make a gallon pretty easy.

    The 2 car garage shuffle.

I have purged a ton of stuff, and it keeps going. I have parts for both vehicles in my garage as general maintenance provisions, so if something breaks I have it in stock, or something that is a wear item that will need replacing. The steel I am going to probably get rid of half honestly. The...

    The 2 car garage shuffle.

The weekend updates were not as fun as last. Had to deliver a truck to DFW area so my saturday was toast. But Yesterday the wall patch is repaired from running the wires. And I got tired of the steel rack hanging on the wall and needed to make room for wall mounting my pressure washer etc...

Man don't mess with T8 fixtures. t5 for real fluorescents is a huge improvement in light, I got rid of my 8' quad t5 due to having the monster LEDs in and it was as much light as my led 8' put out so very good piece for sure. If you have the extra $ the 8' led linkable. I have 16' of light on...

Help me elevate my garage organization and layout!

I would get a 72" harbor freight us general tool box and shove it all the way to the back and use that top as a workbench if you want. Then do overhead cabinets or bin storage above that, if you do cabinets you can get lights under to help etc. You can have workbench on the right wall in that...
