    What is a needle scaler?

Hmmm... What about removing paint from concrete block? And linoleum tile from our basement floors? Yeah, I'll bet it would work in both cases. Better send the wife on a visit to see her Mother for a few days.

Considering a pancake tank style compressor for home

Yeah, as I looked at a bunch of them on Sunday, I realized that I might as well buy something a little larger. Have my eyeballs on something in the 15 gallon vertical tank, 1.5 hp to 2.0 hp range now. Might as well be able to run a few hand tools with it. Thanks for your input. Scott

Considering a pancake tank style compressor for home

Adam, I did a little research last night and was able to compare the specs of a few units. I found one for around $70 that has a sustained horsepower rating of .25 - BFD. Then for $200 one has a sustained hp rating of 2.0, which possibly sounds like a contractors grade (?) unit for pneumatic...

What exactly is a Monkey Wrench?

Dang, it this rate I will be owing one soda to a girl. A girl mind you who knows what a monkey wrench is as opposed to me NOT!!! :lol_hitti I sure hope this isn't a symptom of old-timers disease. I my defense I initially did say that it was any type of adjustable pliers type of...

Considering a pancake tank style compressor for home

I have a nice 230V compressor in my off-site rental shop, but am considering a small 115V compressor for use around the house. Target currently has a Black & Decker 4 gallon, 125 PSI unit for sale through Saturday for $99. I know other manufacturers also make these smaller household units, so...

    Need help finding a tool...

Adam, if you don't get an answer in a couple of days, on Sunday I'll ask my brother who has been a diesel mechanic for 30 years. Btw, today I finally got my shop wired for my welder. Let the good times begin. :bounce:

Brain fade - what is it called?

Well, I just finished typing up my suggestion to the safety committee and I called it a hitch pin clip. It may well be known by other names, but when I googled "hitch pin clip" and looked at the images, almost every pic displayed was of the same type of clip that I posted in my initial post...

Brain fade - what is it called?

I initially thought it was a hitch pin, also. But I think the actual hitch pin is what this gizmo goes through. So maybe hitch pin clip is the actual name. Do I hear a second on the motion? Edit *** I second the motion. Thanks, Jimmy and plap. Appreciate it.

    Drill Press vice ?'s

Timely question, srosa707. Hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I have been thinking that I should buy a vice for my bench-top drill press, but I really don't have a clue as to what I should buy. I would imagine that vices can be fairly multi-purpose to highly specialized. I am thinking a...

Brain fade - what is it called?

It's not a cotter key, is it? For the life of me, I can't remember the exact, specific name of this type of key/pin/keeper thing.:dunno: I had two of them back out of their pins on my crane today, after the crane was serviced last Friday. So I am writing up a little something for the...

    Lets talk about wasp control.

Got stung twice yesterday by a wasp. I was doing yard work and felt something that I thought was an ant crawling on my thigh under my shorts. Reached up my shorts to brush it off and got stung twice before the wasp made a hasty exit. :shocking: Bastage, got away before I could kill it...

What is involved with testing existing concrete?

Thank you, bobbyd. Appreciate your info a lot. Since my shop is a rental, I'll talk to the landlord about getting the concrete tested. And since said landlord is my brother, I'm sure that he will be receptive to my request.;) He has mentioned that the guy who built the building appears to...

What is involved with testing existing concrete?

Wow, that was quick. Thank's for your input. Fwiw, the concrete was poured in 1984. It does look to be in fine shape though.

What is involved with testing existing concrete?

I have been considering a four-post lift for a while now and the unit that I like is the Direct-Lift Pro Park 9 Plus. However, the specs state that the lift requires a minimum of 4” of concrete with 3000 psi. So how do I go about determining the strength of my concrete. Do I have to bore out...

    Lets talk about wasp control.

Just for the heck of it, here is a pic of a bumble bee nest that was in an old blanket under my garage workbench. I knew there was a nest there, but since they didn't bother me, I just let them come and go for an entire season. Actually it was kind of cool to see them crawling and flying...
