Craigslist Ad - Rustoleum Hammered Verde Green Spray Paint $40 Per Can

I bet they will come back in stock eventually. I was looking around for Rustoleum Safety Green for quite a while and it finally came back in stock, 6 packs only.

Ever use an impact driver as an impact wrench or vice-versa, with adapters?

I don't have an impact wrench, so yeah my impact driver's primary purpose is to be one. It's a Gen III Milwaukee Fuel, works fine for top and front of the engine jobs. At max power, it tightened my crank pulley bolt to at least 80 ft-lbs since the torque wrench just immediately clicked on it. I...

    Show your new tool arrivals

I bought some stubby wrenches to make my gastank removal job 10x easier. I needed 16mm which meant no skip sets only, Icon was the only choice available within a short drive. Chrome is nice on all of them, fit was good. No complaints except I didn't have a coupon so I had to pay the full...

    Craftsmanomania?

Finally needed a 3/8 12pt socket, decided it would be most economical to get a small set that would seemingly cover my 12pt sae needs. Scored this set on ebay for $20 shipped. Inverted G era, none of them appear to have turned a bolt, just super minor shelf wear:

    Small hex half (.5) sizes?

I know I can buy them individually, but I still think there should be a 1/4" drive 6pt shallow and deep socket set of 4.5mm and 5.5mm so everybody with a typical starter kit can fill out their socket trays.

How does Milwaukee tool box compare to others?

They seem like premium versions of the Husky boxes. I felt like U.S. General makes a better product but if you like the Milwaukee layout then I'm sure it'll hold tools fine.

Pliers That I Find Useful and Some I Don't. Tell Me Your Preferences

I really like needle nose pliers with the 45 degree bend at the tip for automotive work. So many times I've needed to grab something at an angle, and the bend is perfect to get around obstructions.

25yo craftsman vs something new + upgrades

Old Craftsman USA wrenches compared favorably in recent combo wrench shootouts, I wouldn't be replacing them unless it was for tool truck quality and even then, I don't replace tools unless they break. You're better off getting stuff you don't have like long patterns or flex heads. I roll with...

    Best keychain knife?

Leatherman Micra is too darn useful for me to give up. Only 1in blade but having scissors and a bottle opener at all times is super handy. I've even gotten away with having it at a concert once when I forgot it has a blade. I've had it for 16ish years. Downside is weight, it can basically be...

3/8” low ft.lbs. torque wrench suggestions please

Yeah, the wrench that does well at 81ft lbs isn't going to do well at 12, best to have two for that application.

Is there really a need for RBRT SAE socket extractors if I have the metrics?

My Rocketsocket set has metric and SAE listed on the extractors so I'm inclined to say no. However I'd be curious to know if the unique sets are different sizes or just simply relabeled in an effort to double profits.

Wright flare nut wrenches as good as SnapOn?

Realistically I think the nut that won't be turned with a Wright and will be turned with a Snap-on is a truly rare occurrence. The point is not to cheap out on your flare nut wrenches because you're often relying on them to do critical work. Personally I went with used Snap-on off ebay and have...

    New Torque Wrench

I like my CDI, afaik same thing as a Snap-on except it has a coarse tooth ratcheting head. If you're really just doing lugnuts most of the time I don't think I'd bother with anything more expensive.

Husky impact socket (leftover from Home Depot holiday promo)

I liked the size selection better than HF's offerings and picked up both the SAE and metric sets. They are working just fine for me, good sets to beat on for the money imo.

Tekton selling off remaining ratcheting wrench inventory as open stock

That's the handle end of the ratcheting wrench. It doubles as an open end in emergencies.

Tekton selling off remaining ratcheting wrench inventory as open stock

"We can't compete with Gearwrench who makes a cheaper, slimmer ratcheting wrench. So it's supply chain issues." I guess we just found out how long that 'lifetime' warranty was.

What batteries are you putting in your expensive electronic tools (ie digital torque wrenches & DMMs)?

Alkalines everywhere, but I don't really have nice stuff. You can rescue a mild battery leakage event with a q-tip and some vinegar anyway.

Everything else being equal, how much more torque can 1/2" drive take compared to 3/8" drive?

That would explain why every 3/8 breaker bar I've had has turned into a broken bar!

    Wrench Roll

I had my wife stitch one up for me out of some durable extra fabric she had. Not an off-the-shelf solution but it's perfectly sized for the mismatched set it contains.

Product that's safe to clean a 1980s snap on toolbox?

Me personally, I would degrease everything and then spray a clear rust converter over it. Last rust converter I bought was Rustoleum and it was flat black so that won't work for your application, but I had a clear one many years ago. It changes the color of the rust to black and doesn't change...
