Are any new Craftsman tools worth it?

No, I would never support a traitorous company that can't figure out how to make tools in the US.

    NPT Tap Advice

I have 3 thread cutting operations I need to perform, and I'd like some advice on what to get because them HSS taps ain't cheap. Here's what I need to do: Operation 1: tap a hole that is 5/16 / 7.9mm / .311" so I can put a bolt in it. This is to remove a press fit plug in a fuel rail by means...

Problems Making Flares with Mastercool 71745 Tool

Definitely need cone type deburring tool. I actually use a countersink drill bit which is pretty much the same thing on a 1/4" hex quick release end. I also take a little sandpaper on the outside and round that up a little bit to get everybody slidalating. I think you may have had your dies...

6pt or 12pt Sockets for hand tools

Looking at the marks left on my greasy fasteners, my 12pt combos make contact on the flats in 2 smaller areas on either side of the corner. The 6pt sockets make contact with a larger patch in the middle of the flat. I think you'd have to be using vintage equipment to find actual corner loading...

Is the RYOBI ONE+ 18V Cordless 1/2 in. Impact Wrench Kit with 4.0 Ah Battery and Charger, (PCL265K1) A decent Impact?

I based my opinion on the fact that my impact driver only throws down 166 ft lbs and I was using it to bust lugs with about 90% success. Seems like something with double the beans should be able to get it done, unless the quoted specs are wrong.

6pt or 12pt Sockets for hand tools

6pt sockets for strength, 12pt combo wrenches for access is how I like it. Sure 6pt combos give better grip, but if you can't get the angle to fit the box end on, you're going to have to use the open end which isn't as good as the 12pt box. The main benefit of 12pt (other than fitting on 12pt...

Got tired of using adjustable wrenches on these common sizes, scored NOS 13/16 and 7/8 Craftsman USA units off ebay to match my sets. My preference for 12pt combos is growing. I'd rather have the access and take the risk on overall less bite area. So far they haven't slipped with an impact...

Milwaukee 2863-20 1/2" High Torque with Friction Ring unit. It's awesome, all the adjustability for every setting and will either break the stud or free the fastener. They kick hard and are heavy, I now understand why they sell rubber boots as I've already beat the finish off in several areas...

1/2" drive, nope just the Icon 25" breaker bar. I'm really liking the 25" size, it's been very useful for getting into spots too tight for my impact or when I want to apply more progressive torque on something. If it can't be turned with the 25", it's highly likely the high torque impact set on...

I can’t decide which style of tool cart. Flip top or hardwood none flip top.

I like my flip top with side tray, but I also have a table so I do have a place to set things. My stuff is a little messy right now, I'm in the middle of parting out a truck and needed some extra tools that I haven't strategically placed yet.

No I put it on a breaker bar and then switched to a ratchet.

What kind of tool do I need to remove this dress nut? [Solved]

I'd just sacrifice a socket or metal tube and make a tool.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Well my impact driver finally met its match on rusty suspension and exhaust bolts. I don't think I'll be having a problem anymore though. One Key is pretty cool, you can set the impact speed, trigger ramp up, light timeout and brightness for each mode, and there's two optional settings per...

Do you buy tools for yourself or ...

Man, I wish my dad would work on stuff with me / invested in things we could do together. He always got super angry and gave up on projects though, so maybe not. I buy all my stuff for me exclusively. I will most likely never procreate.

    Redundant Spark Plug Sockets

Hey if I can get that .005" tighter fit, I'm going to go for it. Most of the time I grab SAE and metric and I test out whatever is going to have the best fit, but that's probably a symptom of late 80's early 90's GM where you don't really know which they were using for what.

    Affordable accurate 3/8 torque wrench?

I just picked up a 20-200in lbs torque wrench from HF. Compared to my CDI it feels like junk. Rough engagement, doesn't even click on the lower 1/2 just kinda barely flops over and I had to work it for a while to get it to do that. Not very impressed. I mean, I got my $18 worth I guess. I'm...
