The # 8 I am using has all three wires encased in rubber...3 wires, black, white and green...Black to L1- the white to L2 and green is the ground inside the mag start box...This set up is only temporary, I will be hardwiring to the sub-panel...

The main panel is in another garage about 60' from the sub panel. I thought I would hard wire with # 8 THHN? The sub-panel is a surface mount...

OK, I can just remove the plug altogether and hard wire the mag start in where the plug is...Can I just cap off the white neutral?...Should I use #8 wire instead of #10?

Hi Guy's, this is the inside of the Mag starter on my new Quincy QT-5 compressor...I wanted to use 10-2 THNN wire with a 3 prong welding plug...Wire the two hots to the plug and the ground, and omit and tape the white neutral...The compressor to the 230v outlet is about 4ft. Would this be ok...
