Always a 'fun' day when you get to put on the extra layers

Those were the days. July to October (I think) 1966. Followed the course through the SPS-10 troubleshooting. Then on to Bainbridge MD.

Can I damage this bearing with heat?

For nearly as long as ball bearings have been around, the "usual" standard even in the US is metric for OD, ID (bore), and width. Converting the measurements to inches will give you inches to 4 decimal places. There are special bore bearings with the ID or bore in inches. 6202 s are...

Can I damage this bearing with heat?

I wouldn't want to try pressing that one even with the inner race heated and the shaft frozen. 0.025 mm to 0.075 mm is a more common interference fit. The inner race is only going to stretch so far.

Can I damage this bearing with heat?

For what it's worth, this is an example of a low budget bearing heater. 10 minutes is usually enough to expand the inner race to either slide in place or to need only a few taps to seat properly. I've used this for fractional horse power motors and other smaller items. Yeah, I know the light...

Re-Surface Nasty Rough Painted Existing Stucco Exterior Walls

Regarding your "smooth it" question: Sand/wipe the surface with a broken piece of concrete block. Use a piece that's not too heavy to hold. That should knock off a lot of the surface roughness. No block handy? use a piece of brick.

Craftsman 100 Drill Press Column Rusted In Place

The challenge will be to clamp it tight enough so the clamp won't slide while jacking. Also, it's tough to keep the tube from cocking when jacking on one side.

Craftsman 100 Drill Press Column Rusted In Place

I've seen some solutions that involved clamping the tube and using a hydraulic jack between the clamp and the base. When it's stuck and corroded that badly, I'd be inclined to try making some cuts inside the tube at the base to make the it easier to peel the pieces inward with a cold chisel...

    404 not found

Ensure that your employees have a cell phone with them at all times while working. The next time he's stranded inside the building, he can call the fire department to extricate him. They should have plenty of tools that can make a forced entry into that garage and free him. Once the building is...

If fixed the biggest flaw with vise grips

Neat idea. I may try it myself. Also a handy way to hang them up so they're easy to find.

Rustoleum Farm and Implement Paint + Hardener Question

Resisting gas or diesel spills is different from resisting carb cleaner. The paints that have been mentioned should be fine for gas spills. Resisting carb cleaner is a completely different story.

Wow, a TL-29 with wood scales. How old? Mine from 1969 has the black plastic/phenolic.

    Is this Vise slide fixable?

It would have been fun to watch the previous owner cause that bend. Good luck with it. Going slowly will likely make the difference.

    Led interference

Some, not all LED lights create significant RF "hash". In my shop, with the lights on, AM radio stations have so much interference that they're not worth trying to listen to. The opener power cord isn't how the interference is getting to the opener receiver. Try extending the opener antenna or...

    Drywall Screws Attracting Metal

I believe it's a difference in temperature on an outside wall. Any soot or other airborne contaminates will accumulate on a cooler spot. I'm not sure what the actual mechanism is. Depending on the amount and the type of vapor barrier, soot from candles and other contaminates will accumulate on...

    Red cedar bench wood filler

Like Hank said. Continuous UV sun exposure will eventually break down the epoxy. Look for a good, clear UV coating. A boat builder website should have something useful.

What do you make of this hinge

Considering the description of the "little" door, I was going to say ball-bearing hinge but Oops found it first.

    Never fails!

Sometimes the release lever/handle is in an obscure location. The manual should point it out. Good luck with it.
