Cars falling off lifts - why?

I'd imagine having a truck fall on you would take some of the fun out of being a small business owner.

Cars falling off lifts - why?

Aah, ok. It looks like that lift was used for a while like that and I'm surprised it didn't fail sooner, those anchors are awful short...

Cars falling off lifts - why?

Scary. Should that base plate have 2 more anchors in it? What are those two unused holes for?

3/4" drive ratchet with "offset head"

You call a guy who can do that "Sir" no matter how big a cheater bar he used.

    Bostitch compressor combo at Lowes

I bought this set a few years ago for this very reason and now I use it more often than I use my 30 gallon compressor. The nailers are decent too.

    Circular saw power cord splice

    Sounds like it'll be fine.

Tekton oil filter pliers vs. Channellock oil filter pliers

I have both and they work fine. The Tektons are a bit bigger and have longer handles so I use them on bigger filters, the Channellocks fit smaller filters. No issues with either. Now that I think about it I believe the Tektons cost me more than the Channellocks did.

    2014 Garage sale thread!

Cool boxes, I found a lower box just like that at a barn sale last month. The bifold door setup is odd but I love the box. I'd never seen an orange Kennedy before.

I second the u-****, no objections, motion is carried. Outlaw, what is that little drawer in the middle for, the one that looks like it is lined with metal?

    Building your own trusses?

Ditto, I made my own using this method on my 24x32 back in 2000, it is still standing and the roof is arrow straight. No inspection required however...

    Window/wall pellet stove

I saw the US Stove version at my local Rural King a few years ago and did a little online research, as I recall some people had good things to say but the majority of reviews were pretty negative. It seemed like a good idea that was poorly executed.

22x22 pole barn quoted at $12k

That seems like a good price, I did all the work on my 24x30 myself (except the concrete) and I probably have $10,000 in it. How wide is the jet boat? It doesn't seem like you'd have much room for a lift with a boat in there.

    Menard's Deals Permathread!

Hey now! :D Yeah their sizes are usually pretty limited on the rebate clothing, I didn't get any polo shirts because all they had were pink or bile yellow in S, XL, XXL, and 3XL.

Hmm, it might work on pipe, let me run out to the shop and give it a try... Edit: I'm back. I couldn't get it to work on pipe either, I tried it on 3/4 galvanized pipe and on a 1/2 pvc fitting. The teeth just slipped on the galvanized pipe but they chewed up the hex on the pvc fitting. I'm...

Possibly Dumb Question on Corrugated Wire Loom

When I was a kid I put split loom all over the engine compartment of my 1966 Mustang because I thought it looked cool. I used cheap stuff from a discount store, it was really brittle and chewed my hands up pretty good installing it. Wish I'd known about these tools back then myself. Split...

Actually the ratcheting adjustables are pretty bad, not even worth the bother to get them for free. I looked them over in the store, they come attached to a card with a plastic "bolt" that you can turn to try out the wrench. It actually worked pretty well on the plastic bolt and I...

To dig or not to dig? (sewer line)

Man, for that kind of $$ I'd look at a composting or incinerating toilet.

Possibly Dumb Question on Corrugated Wire Loom

It's easy enough to install by hand but they also make tools for installing it (just google "split loom tool"). I've never used one but it looks like it would prevent all the little cuts I usually get on my fingers when installing it.
