Need ideas to cheaply heat a small green house.

Last fall I completed an 11' x 12' greenhouse and installed one of these for a heater: https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200578579_200578579 Inside the greenhouse there is a brick paver floor, a 105" x 20" x 2" thick concrete counter and a 55 gallon rain barrel, all acting as...

In Defense of the Radial Arm Saw

I bought an older Craftsman radial arm saw off Craigslist about 12 years ago. It's now on a fixed stand and the table height and fence align with the adjacent chop saw bench. I've used it 8 - 10 times. Each time, it worked fine, but still scares me a bit. The last use was to make some 60...

    Okay guys, I need ideas.

I might be late to the party, but I too have a pole barn with a (badly) poured concrete floor and the rise to it from the side lawn is more than my '72 MG Midget can clear without scraping. My solution is two pieces of 3/4" plywood, about 12" x 30" (recovered from an upcycled shelf unit). I...

    Lawn Mower Oil Change Questions

I change the oil at the start of the mowing season, and check the oil level at each fuel fill-up (usually every other mowing). I do all the greasing and other maintenance then too. For reference, this 'was' on a Snapper 52" walk-behind with a 16hp B&S Vangard V-twin, that I bought (used w/...

Oscillating multi-tools -- what do you actually use it for?

I had to modify a fiberglass truck cap and used an oscillating cutter to do the cutting and help keep the fiberglass dust under control. I also used it for cutting twin wall polycarbonate sheets while building a greenhouse. FWIW, mine is a Porter-Cable 20V.

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

Another Bike tool memory... one of my specialties at the bike shop was custom wheel building. I was know for consistent and and reliable race wheels. After work and after driving (or biking home), getting in the shower, I'd find I still had a spoke wrench looped over my finger.

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

Back in my days at a bike shop in Massachusetts, we renamed the Park 4th hand tool (cable stretcher) the "Jenny" tool; after the girlfriend of one of the shop workers (because she didn't do anything either).

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Sure, buy a 50 year old British car... it will be fun ...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Yesterday...relocated most of the coolant from a '72 MG Midget to my shop floor. I was lucky enough to catch a few milliliters in the catch pan, but the rest is evenly spread over a ~100 square foot area.

    My new Bike Repair Stand

We used sweatshirt material, fuzzy side against the paint, to protect bikes. Worked well

    My new Bike Repair Stand

Seeing that Park stand brings back a lot of good memories. From '82 -'89 I worked full and part time in a few Massachusetts bicycle stores.

    Install my own generator?

"the left and right "bars" are bonded by a single black wire near the top" Yes, the two sides are bonded, and I intend to leave it that way. The plan now is to install a new ground bar near the top left side of the panel box. With the house de-energized, I'll pull all the grounds of the the...

Suggestions for a local company or chain that can mix a paint code (2 stage)

I had NAPA mix single stage paint for a '97 Jeep Wrangler (Citron Pearl). It wasn't cheap, about $145/qt.

    Install my own generator?

But the new wires from the transfer switch to the existing electrical panel has 4 conductors. Don't I need something to attach that new ground to?

Help me build a moveable swing A frame.

I should have added that I would unbolt and remove the extra pivot legs after moving the swing frame so it still looked normal. I lived at that house for 5 years and moved the frame 6-8 times per mowing season and the pivot leg idea held up fine. When we sold the house, I left the set up...

    Install my own generator?

Quick question regarding adding a ground bar. Because the generator transfer switch will be the new primary disconnect, I'm required to separate the ground and neutral inside my existing electrical panel. To do this, I need to add a ground bar inside the existing electrical panel...

Help me build a moveable swing A frame.

Make it a "walker". I had a similar situation at my 1st house, the grass under the swing (on a 4 post frame) was getting worn. I made 4 equal length pivoting legs (I used 1x8 treated) and bolted each to the outside of all 4 posts. I can't recall the actually length of each leg, but for...

    Install my own generator?

My hat is off for those that make a living running heavy gauge power conductors. Good grief was it a lot of work getting the wires (4/0-4/0-4/0-2/0 plus 6 x 18ga) in 2” conduit from the generator to the transfer switch . . . it took me all day Sunday, and it’s still not connected at either...

    Install my own generator?

Just going off what my plant electrical tech said I'd need for 200amp service. Also, I believe 4/0 aluminum is what is run from the meter to my circuit breaker panel.
