Experience with 5 hp air compressor and sandblaster?

Nope, it's actually a 7hp...and it still doesn't keep up under continuous blasting.

Experience with 5 hp air compressor and sandblaster?

I have a Husky 5hp and a homemade blast cabinet. IMO, the 5hp compressor does struggle to keep up if I'm doing a lot of blasting. I started with a Coleman blast gun but it wore thru a while back. The current blast gun is one of these...

How would I break this stone mantle?

I have no idea if this would work for your application, but... I bunch of years ago, I was at some craft bazaar with the Missus and watched a local stone artisan cut and shape a stone slab (I believe it was sandstone) using 2 triangle files and a few F-style clamps. It was a bit tricky to...

Unscrewed the "DO NOT ADJUST" port from HF Jack (2 tons) - help!

IMO, this is a situation where you need to accept the goof-up as a lesson learned, and go get a new floor jack. Recover all the usable hardware, material, casters, etc. from the messed up jack and just throw out the carcass.

Love my trees, hate the Effin leaves!

On the occasion where I let the leaf cover get too thick, I just slow down to a crawl and make one pass through the middle. Whereas the leaves do build up a bit between the front casters and the deck, it's not enough to stall or bog down the mower. After the 1st pass through, I can speed up...

Love my trees, hate the Effin leaves!

Just mulch them. You already have a lawn tractor. Get a mulching kit for it (block off plate and high lift mulching blades) and just mow them down. I'm on 2.25 acres and have 5 maples, 2 oaks, 1 gum, 1 sycamore, 4 apple and 2 pear trees; meaning, I've got leaves. After only one season...

Vehicle Exhaust Extraction: Finding a Fan

When I was trying to tune a Jeep in the middle winter and didn't want to keep the barn slider open, I opted to run a 4" dryer tube from the Jeep exhaust to my dust collector, and let the collector pull the fumes out. I should point out that the dust collector did not use any filters and...

What is this piece of hardware called?

My 1st "professional invention" was a workbench device to install these without cracking the plastic. I was a junior in High School and worked at a local bicycle shop. At Christmas time, the shop sold hundreds of little red tricycles and each has the rear wheels held on by these push caps...

Any new hand tools @ harbor freight?

I can't add to the list, but I'm interested in hearing if anyone has experience or an opinion of this surface tool: https://www.harborfreight.com/9-amp-surface-conditioning-tool-58079.html?_br_psugg_q=surface+conditioning+tools

Solution for Home Depot Stuff On Upper Rack

At the local Lowes, their tactic for keeping the general public off the rolling ladders is to lock & chain the ladder to the rack upright, having the chain also span between the handrails of the ladder. The one time I needed an associate to retrieve an item from an upper shelf (a Shop-vac...

    Drafting Machines

Just my opinion, but those round tube style drafting table frames are not all that steady and tend to wiggle. I've had a few over the years and was not happy with any of them.

    Drafting Machines

Back in the day ('84 to '90) I was a fan of the Vemco parallel arm types. I believe the one I have a home is a model 3500. The places I worked had those types and also the track types. Being a lefty, I could reverse the Vemco, but not the track style. In the early 90's, I moved onto...

dumb questions about wicking pipe threads...

Maybe late to the discussion, but last week, the guys hooking up the natural gas piping to my standby generator used a blue, brush-on sealant AND wrapped teflon tape at each joint.

    Jet-15 Milling & Drilling machine?

FWIW, I have a Jet JMD-18. It's a bit of an upgrade from the one you're looking it, but it's still a round column mill/drill. So far, it's worked out fine. As a kid working at my father's shop, I had experience using a "Newport" vertical mill. It looked just like standard...

    SOLID Plywood

Whereas I can't vouch for being void-free, 1/4" Lauan plywood, is regularly used for small boat building. As a kid we used it for building skiffs and one of my neighbors used it to build a little tear-drop travel trailer.

Making my 70 El Camino a show car

Impressive work. I've always been a fan of El Camino's despite the '79 GMC El Diablo I traded a '70 Mustang (coupe) for in the late 80's. I'm told that it would be a rare collector car now, but back in '89, it was a POS that desperately needed a fuel leak and lit match.

    Garage Car/Toy Lift to Basement

What about a 4 post lift installed in the basement? Something like: https://www.wildfirelifts.com/copy-of-double-wide-car-lift In the garage, you can install hinged floor decking that can be opened to allow a vehicle to be raised up from the lower level. It will take some engineering to...
