Post for small loft in post frame barn

I built a 12x36x8 loft using 4x4 post. I used 6 across the front with post holder bolted into the concrete. There are 2 other post bolted into the concrete about midway in the shore for the stairs. With that said I use this area for storage and nothing really heavy. I used joist hangers at 16 ft...

Grading / Raising low side with fill 3.5ft for pole building garage

The sad thing is that I have been told some company’s have to pay to get rid of clay around here. That the option I really wanted just couldn’t find any. I was a little about the ag lime at first but it sat for a few months before we started building. Once it got wet it hardened up very nice.

Grading / Raising low side with fill 3.5ft for pole building garage

I went through this process last year with success. I think I went a little higher than that as well. My plan was to get clay but it was at the start of COVID and nobody was digging anywhere near me. I ended up trucking in about 25 loads of Ag lime ( First budget slip). The contractor brought in...

    Solvent concrete sealer indoors

I agree with the rest of the folks on here. I used the same type of product earlier this year. It took awhile for the smell to go away. I just kept venting it as much as I could but it took several weeks to completely go away.

Pole building interior finishing question - exposed posts

I used 1/2 plywood 8ft up and painted it. I did all my my electric prior to because I did not want to run conduit along the walls. It also allows me to mount things or the walls. Plan to do metal the rest of the way at some point. The plywood and paint may have been an extra expense but it was...

    Two post lift wiring

I know this has been discussed but I have a question about lift wiring. I’m going to run 10-2 off a 30 amp breaker across my shop to where the lift will be. It will be a little over 50 ft. I don’t want to have a bunch of extra wire due to the cost of wiring right now. Is it acceptable to use 2...

Mold and condensation in pole barn

I had a humidity problem over the summer. I control the climate in the winter but not in the summer. I have concrete with a vapor barrier under it. I added a 60 gallon dehumidifier to the mix an a gauge to keep an eye on the humidity and it worked out well. But like stated before it is an extra...

    Liftmaster garage door security?

I have a Liftmaster side mounted opener with the deadbolt. It works really well and the deadbolt locks automatically as soon as the door closes.

    Gravel Driveway $ Guessing Game

I did a 60 ft driveway and had a pad built which may have been a lot less level last year. It cost me almost 10 grand. Due to having to build it up so much I had to spend more this year on a retaining wall to ensure it stays in place.

Cost of Pad for Pole Barn

My pad cost me around 10,000 for the dirt work. I have a decent slope to deal with as well. We ended up using ag lime instead of clay. I think it ended up being about 35 loads. I was a little worried at first but once the rain got on it it was like concrete to dig through. Unfortunately the...

    Ellis Acre dream shop

Well I got almost all my electrical completed. All in total I have about 30 20 amp outlets and 6 15 amp outlets. I am almost finished with the lighting and while I think it looks sloppy it will give off plenty of light for a couple years. Started putting up some plywood on the walls and built...
