    Buying used impact sockets

I've always heard that HF sockets were good, but when i went to verify that i searched "harbor freight impact socket reviews" and bought up about a 50/50 mix of good and bad. FWIW, I'm going to start with an electric, but I'm also on the hunt for a compressor, which I'll probably buy used...

    Buying used impact sockets

I've read some not so good things about the harbor freight ones. i don't know about the auto zone, do they have the larger sizes? If i was going to buy new, this would be my first choice given the size of the collection. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002SRB5W/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Re: Anybody wax there tool box? Arent' most powder coated? Given the way a clay bar works, would this make a lot of difference on the powder coating?

    Buying used impact sockets

Never owned an impact, so I've never owned impact sockets. However I plan to change this, at first with a cordless impact. Even then my use will be pretty limited so I'd like to save as much as possible. Is buying them used sight unseen (well, other than pictures, like here or ebay) a big...

what tools have you actually broke while using?

Craftsman ratchets... I now own snap on. Punches tremble at the mention of my name. I should start selling them as art. :D Many a cheap screwdriver, they're versatile. A $15 pittman arm puller, made by autocraft I believe. A $40 puller, a torch, and a BFH solved the problem..

    Another boot thread

The secret to good safety boots is not to buy cheap ones. Buy cheap ones and your feet will hurt. I wear $300 red wings. I can't tell they're steel toe/steel shank. A new set of insoles every once in a while and they don't bother me during 12-17 hour days that I frequently work...

    Bit Sockets

Who makes the best COMPLETE bit socket set? Would like torx and hex at a minimum. Snap on has a pretty nice set... for $700 :lol_hitti Everything else I've managed to find you would need to buy separate sets to make what I consider would be a "complete" set.

    Ryobi 18V cordless impact

Looking to get an impact, but no air at this time. But, I was in home depot yesterday and was looking at this impact: http://www.ryobitools.com/catalog/18v_oneplus/drills_drivers/P260 I already have a pretty complete set of ryobi 18V tools, and I'm pretty happy with them. Does anyone have...

    Upgrading tools. What to upgrade?

Thanks to all for the replies.... As mentioned by others I think I'll keep my craftsman sockets, and continue to upgrade/procure a few other things, mainly wrenches, hex/torx sockets, etc. The tool world can be funny. I read the "what tools are worth spending extra on" and I've had the...

    Upgrading tools. What to upgrade?

I aquired most of my hand tools when I was in high school ~10 years ago. My dad was always loyal to craftsman, and that rubbed off on me. However, since then a few things have gone missing, and in recent years I've not needed to use my tools that much, however that has changed. So now that...

    Upgrading tools. What to upgrade?

Been using craftsman all my life. Aquired a few kobalt things here and there. But i finally started buying some snap on stuff. Mainly, ratchets and wrenches. Without a doubt, both are superior to anything i've ever owned. Now, i'm starting to get curious about my sockets. I have a...

    Metal buildings - educate me.

Problem is that it is going to have to be squeezed. I have plenty of room, just not buildable room. However, I could very easily put a 10x15 workshop in the back yard without permits. Anything bigger would have to be in the rear/side yard since my lot is trapezoidal. And there is a drainage...

Sound Deadening for an Apartment "Shop"

Personally, I would rip the carpet out. Then, put down commercial vinyl tile. Pretty easy to put down, who cares if it looks a bit sloppy. When it's time to sell, you could try to re use the piece you took out (if you could store it) or have that room re carpeted. As far as soundproofing...
