Running Ethernet into a Pole Barn

Something I am considering is a reducing 90° fitting to run from the male threads to the box like this pipe fitting: https://www.mcmaster.com/4452K741 Edit: Or use this: https://www.platt.com/platt-electric-supply/Pulling-Elbows-Elbow-Malleable-Iron/Appleton/FFL-125/product.aspx?zpid=158063...

Running Ethernet into a Pole Barn

My shop is about finished at this point. I am just trying to tidy up some loose ends. During rough-in I ran 1.25" PVC through the concrete up into my office for ethernet from the house. Inside the wall I put a LB running into the office with male adapter to screw into the back of a work box like...

Well I got a lot done this weekend! Saturday all of the conduit got finished. Today I got all of the wire pulled and connected up and started on installing the rapid air system. It's not quite as rapid as I hoped but still really cool. The straightener is worthless though... My ceiling fans...

It has been a while without much progress as I have been side tracked with other projects. Last weekend I built two storage shelves. One for general storage and one for oil and filters. I plan to line the oil shelf with HDPE so that any stray oil won't soak into the OSB. Last night I was able...

Advice or opinions on finishing interior 42x56x12

Re: Advice/ opinions on finishing interior pole barn 42x56x12 I agree with both comments already posted. -First plan how the space will be used exactly (graph paper/excel and place all equipment and vehicles in the squares). -Browse for ideas in the gallery and in the lighting/electrical and...

    36 x 60 x 12 Lighting Layout

What is your truss spacing? Also think about how you are going to mount the lights if you are not going to mount them to the truss. My trusses are at 8' and didn't want to use unistrut or framing between the trusses to hang the lights. This forced me to using higher output lights on the 8' spacing.

What about using guard rail like what is seen beside roads? I think they sell it used for cattle lots and such. Maybe check with the county engineers / DOT?

Made a little more progress today. Finally got a workbench built. Steev-o's bench was what sparked the idea. The opening on the right will hold another toolbox whenever I end up getting another one. Don't pay attention to the mess, I had to take all the tools out of the box to slide it under the...

Harbor Freight 44" Series 2 Tool Cabinet Dimensions

I am getting ready to build a steev-o like workbench this weekend. I have one of the series 1 cabinets already that I plan to use. Eventually I plan to buy a series 2 cabinet to go under the workbench as well. Does anyone have a series 2, 44" cabinet they can measure for me? The link to the...

Relative Security - Inswing vs Outswing vs Overhead Garage Doors

If you have windows I wouldn't worry too much about your doors. That's the easiest route in with everything else being locked to some extent.

Brought the toolbox over today and got the preliminary air plumbing done. I'll be running 3/4" maxline at some point to the rest of the shop. Also we finally got to hear the new compressor run. It was quieter than expected and the lights don't dim on start up. Most importantly, the pups got some...

    Cost to run 220?

For my air compressor and welder outlets I ran 2x #6 THHN in 3/4" EMT conduit. Is the area you are running the wire easily accessible? You could run conduit or romex. Conduit: (6) 10' pieces of 3/4" EMT & fittings $50, Junction box $5, outlet & cover $15, breaker $10, 75' wire $75 =~$160...

Some more updates over the last month: -The OSB wall liner was painted with barn and fence paint. -Most of the conduit is run and I finally have lights. I used 19 of these: https://www.lightup.com/2ft-led-linear-high-bay-80-watt-200w-equiv-dimmable-10400-lumens-lumegen.html I utilized the...

Another problem we have found with the OSB wall liner is that only about 10 screws per sheet were used to attach it to the walls. With the humidity, it was starting to bow pretty bad in spots. Yesterday I had to add quite a few more screws. In other news, Sunday I was able to get the office...

    Suitable replacement motor?

Why don't you just run a PTO shaft back to it off the tractor? The below website has lots of power transmission stuff. https://www.surpluscenter.com/Power-Transmission/

Well it has been a busy couple of weeks. We got all the trenches dug for water and internet to the shop as well as underground power to the shop and underground to the house to replace the overhead wires. That was a lot of digging... Also, the shop got insulation, OSB lining on the inside...

So a little about me, I'm a 24 year old full time engineer. We are undergoing a remodel on the farm house while living closer to work. This property is really a hobby farm. We have about 100ac between the farm and my parents place which adjoin and we don't really have any massive equipment at...

That is a valid point on the warranty. I will check with the builder tomorrow on that. Worst case, I could put some Tyvek on the inside of the exterior girts. There will be a vapor barrier between the foam and the OSB on the inside. I was mostly concerned with panel removal with foam being...

Thanks for the compliments. I'm not sure what they set the girts at but I would agree it looks like about 3' (5 spaces, 14' tall). That's what it was engineered to so I hope the metal holds fine. A couple other outbuildings on the property have a similar spacing. If you blow up the pictures...
