this welder came with flux core wire, i did a couple of practice beads. i use gas with my other welder and the welds are much nicer w/gas. i'll do more practicing before i get gas for this one.

i ended up buying a hobart 190, i think it will work out well for me. thanks for all the replies.

i,d use dupont acrylic enamel. its easy to apply and is durable.

i use an eraser wheel from astro tools like the one a few posts back, works very well. i've never burned the paint and its fast way to get the adhesive off.

i don't know what to tell you about shutting down your heater . i'm looking to get something like that for my garage, how do you like it? does heat the place fast, is it quiet? thanks for any info.
