The LEDs don't get very hot, but the power electronics in the bulb's base have to get rid of the extra energy when it drops the voltage from 120V and rectifies to DC. That's generally done through heat dissipation (hence the large heat sink on those bulbs.

I found two Dake arbor presses over the past year on Craigslist for under $100 each. If you don't need one soon, I think you could find a nice press for just a little more than the HF ones cost.
