Awesome stuff, never used one of this type, usually the one that resembles a half moon is what I have used.

    Craftsman 1" drive ratchet?

looks like 3/4" to me...the number from the bottom of the handle would help right about now. I have a couple of them. Caught buying the USA ones when the chinese garbage was coming into Sears. I was in a tractor trailer/large truck garage and I think I saw a 1", really long. For removing...

    Old Crescent wrench info

I'm thinking parts will be difficult to buy. I would doubt apex would warranty much of anything as they are sending anything and everything to china. They're in the garbage business.. I salute you for wanting to fix a broken tool, as I do the same with ratchets and other 'worth saving' items...

    My grandfather's odd pliers?

I'm thinking they're wire holders so you can connect the wires with solder or a crimp lug. I've used similar tools to hold data wires in a cabinet while a lug or solder connection is made.

Disposing of tools. What do you do?

I have been given tools that were too far gone with rust or simple abuse to save. At work there is a recycle bin for ferrous and non ferrous metals. Into the ferrous bin they go.

Didja notice the 2-9-14 Sears tool ad claims?

Desperate measures at desperate times for Sears. It's total BS. In my experience with garbage from asia the sockets round out or simply crack, drill bits last maybe once or twice then it's time to replace them, wrenches stretch...the list goes on and on. I'll keep my American stuff in service...

Help identify Vintage US Made sockets

I have this same set. The writing on the end (I believe) said New Britain. It was a bit worn off when I picked up the set. Hex key drive is what got me to buy it.

Nice quality control Snap On. WTF?

They might be valuable for the simple fact they are a screw up. Maybe a call to the fine folks at SO. Wait a sec...factory just moved to shanghai...lol, kidding I'd call them.

    Wire Stripper/Cutter- Klein VS bluepoint

Klein is top quality stuff. I have many screwdrivers, strippers, wire cutters....the list goes on that have lasted many years of use. Beware though...some of the stuff (like screwdrivers) has gone to taiwan. Not for me. I don't know if the Bluepoint is worth spending the extra cash on...

Where do you guys shop for new tools?

Other people's tool boxes...lol, Seriously though, Sears is still a top pick. It's funny, some Sears tool departments have USA stuff others have practically none. I visit about 8 different stores on a regular basis and always find something to take home. The full polish wrenches that are...

When wrench sets skip sizes, how do they decide which to skip?

The 11mm is a wrench/socket that I never use. I can say yes to the 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm & 19mm. I work on a Camry, Protege & Altima. In the past it was a Saturn, Honda Accord, Audi (the bolt is where?), Ford Van, 323, ******...that's about it. Gosh, it's crazy. Makes me think about the...

    Dewalt 20v made in USA?!

No matter, it's still junk. I like my Bosch drills. Of course what I have was made in Switzerland, now it's Malaysia.

    Irwin Vise Grips/CHINA

I run into this problem myself. USA sockets used to be found in a big box and sell for $1 or $2 each. Big ones, sometimes as much as $5. I would drop some cash here. Now with the invasion of garbage from china and taiwan, the USA stuff either has vanished or has been priced much higher. I...

    who makes decent quality screwdrivers?

Klein tool. Look for made in USA. Some of the stuff is garbage from taiwan so watch out. I have used Klein stuff for many years and have had very good luck.
