    Dropping stuff

Usually this happens to coins or errant french fries in the car. Periodically I go in, disassemble & clean. Found a whole cigarette in the Mazda, of course it was nasty & coffee stained. I guess I drop sockets in the engine bay as well. Usually the 10mm that falls off the end of the extension.

That old tool store down the road...

I think I'm taking a road trip. Amazing selection.... too bad all the stores like that have been replaced by HD & Lowes...aka china garbage. I'll be visiting the bank tomorrow for a loan

    Does anyone else miss...

I guess since I have no tools that came in metal..I can't miss them. Some of the SK sets have a thin plastic case, not too much space. Craftsman seems to have the really thick blow molded sets, like lugging a pillow with tools inside.

Do you let your wife use your tools?

Maybe this is a joke or something...I couldn't get her to cook dinner...I'm certainly not letting her loose in the toolbox. She has her tools, the broom & dust pan, I have my tools wrenches, sockets, etc.

    Chrysler special dipstick tool?!?

Someone at Chrysler is a dipstick. What a way to save money. Guess what ...if I can't check the fluid, I'm not buying the car. Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat is going the way of the dodo anyway.

Another exciting round of "what's that tool!!"

Nose ring pliers for the ***** girlfriend? Looks like a sheet metal trimming tool ...maybe something to snip wire. Do they have a manufacturer mark?

Beware....Craftsman Impact Sockets made in China!!!

Funny how things repeat...I purchased about $200 worth of American impacts at sears a couple of months ago. I had to pick and pick through the mess that the whole aisle was. Some were old logo stuff, newer logo and of course chinese garbage. I got a few duplicates, who cares. I bought a...

Sears Canada screwdrivers and tool boxes

Looks like I need to make a road trip to do some field research. Curious...has it stopped snowing in Canada yet? I'll get the chains for the car if not. Note to self : don't forget the Rush, Neil Young and Bryan Adams music.

Why is 20mm such a very rare nut & bolt size..?

I have a devil  of a time finding 21mm sockets in 6 pt. Both cars have (Nissan & Mazda) use 21 mm lug nuts. A lot of sets have 18, 19, 20, 22, 24. Of course if you ask in Sears for a 6 pt 1/2" drive 21mm socket, she needs to go find her manager. No, I'm working on a global list of "to...

Someone help me out with this one? Cman socket set for $900 on ebay?

Something funny about the picture. 15 bids...gosh. I guess there's one born every minute. Pic looks like the box was from a cheapo taiwan set from the 80s, repainted & a craftsman logo was put on it. No indicator of manufacturer on the individual sockets/drive tools. Give me a -v- or BE...

    Craftsman Sockets - Chrome Inconsistent

I have a couple sockets where the writing is on the wrong end of the socket as well. The chroming/plating/whatever it is is interesting. I have noticed the colors change between manufacturers as well as ages. Much old Snap On is nickel plated (I think...well at least what I have). SK seems...

    The future of Craftsman?

Has anyone shopped in Sears lately? Don't dare ask for help finding something.. all I get is a blank stare? ' I'm looking for 1/2" drive stuff...6 point' It was like I was asking for a moon rock. No....Sears and I believe Kmart as well are done for. :pimpflash

How Often Do You Break Tools?

I break sockets, usually have a cheater bar on the end of the ratchet though. Bit sockets seem to break easily, no brand seems better than any other.

    Old Craftsman hand carry box

I like it...nice wood grain. My "primary" box is a Craftsman. Although it doesn't have wood grain to it, it was made in 1977, solid as a rock. I was 5 that year...been collecting for a long time. PSYCH! Hand me down from a family member. I'd pick it up. The junk that sears sells now is a...

    KAL sockets??

KAL is a Japanese company looking to establish a presence in the US. I would say it was around 1990. I have KAL sockets & extensions from Japan and ratchets from the US. Seems to be of good quality. I've used cheater bars on the ratchets without problems. Keep the stuff clean (read : sans...
