    Harbor Freight: Quality vs. junk

The OP only had two posts, so I hope I did not scare him/her off, with all that required reading.

I decided to switch all my cordless tools to Hercules

Doesn't really make sense anyway. HF as far as it's "major" cordless tool lines, have only dumped "Chicago electric" and "Drillmaster" (cordless anyway) goofy brand names and dated, so-so technology that was destined for the boneyard anyway. Not sure why they would even want to "drop the...

    Quality Dremel Style Tool?

Only mention this tool because the OP stated he was cutting bolts and bushings, which a Dremel style tool is not really suited for. I have the $18 "Chicago Electric" version perfect for cutting bolts or small cuts in sheet metal, but agree no other functions of what the small interchangeable...

Riddle me this about HF saw blades

Your view of EV Armageddon has merit but Apparently china and at some of the rest of the world, are still willing to deal with all that and somehow make it work, especially with the global petroleum situation we are now all in. Fortunately for US we are done with EVs so now we just have...

Riddle me this about HF saw blades

Imo if they sold standard quality,$15,000 electric vehicles in the US. They would be literally everywhere. Probably buy batteries cheap off of Amazon

Riddle me this about HF saw blades

My guess HF figures a hurried buyer will just chuck up the extra five bucks, for the upgrade to the "best" and get on with their work day. That kind of their thing. Whether the blade is actually $5 better, who knows? :dunno: As far as the Diablo, they'll have to get that somewhere else.

Riddle me this about HF saw blades

Your comment about touch labor only and not having any oftheir own intellectual property might be two of the silliest things I’ve ever heard said about China

Riddle me this about HF saw blades

That sounds like it’s about money and how much people want to spend for quality steel Harbor freight probably sells a lot more of their $12 drillbit sets than they do any of the more expensive ones

Riddle me this about HF saw blades

Fair questions. I’ve had a handful of good Chinese drill bits, but most of them are ****. But to be fair, the 30 piece drillbit that was probably $12 so I had to adjust my expectations accordingly. Since you’re an engineer, I’ll ask you the honst question. China can make everything from fake...

Riddle me this about HF saw blades

China is not a “first world country”? What century is this? They are the largest steel producer in the world, and they can probably produce any kind of level ofsteel, but may not see the need to compete with foreign producers of specialties steel They surely shouldbe able to make a piece of...

How did Snap On become the standard?

That’s because they’re plastics industry stopped using recycled, trucker, pee bottles

How did Snap On become the standard?

Maybe it’s just like beer, where people generally just grab their favorite brand. Surely not always, but as example, if some professional is a big Mac tool user, they probably just look at and buy whatever Mac is selling, not really spending much time comparing to see if it’s better than snap on.

How did Snap On become the standard?

Whoever said they became the "standard" of anything and if so, what? :dunno: Other companies make great tools at premium prices and offer good service. The only thing even close (that I can see) is of course, HF's highly successful product copying and marketing angle "beating" Snap On. But to...

Going from the HF 90 day, to a 5 year (3 for batteries) warranty will promote the Hercules platform.

I decided to switch all my cordless tools to Hercules

Don't really see the platform going away any time soon. I have a couple of the brushless impacts. Nice.
