    Craftsman Motor 266.23450

Thanks Dagny. I'm not a electric motor guy. Does that mean there are no bearings like I'd find in a AC electric motor?

    Craftsman Motor 266.23450

I have this Craftsman 1/2 HP motor I'm putting on a Craftsman DP I'm working on. It's a mod 266.23450 code 5613. Says it's variable speed, reversible. I also have the optional remote control. Seems like a nice fit for my vintage DP. Bearings seem OK but has anyone every cracked one of these...

    Craftsman Drill Press

Any thoughts on using JB Weld to Make splines in my spindle pulley? There's not a lot of meat there for a spline bushing even if I could find the right one. Would the JB weld be tough enough for the torque of the 1/2 hp motor? spindle and original splines are just pot metal. Probably not much to...

Hello Guys, your ideas on fixing the spindle pulley are good - keep them coming. Rather fix this one then turn it into a parts machine. Thanks again

    Craftsman Drill Press

Hello Outlaw, thanks for the info on paint removal, I'll give it a try. But first an update. I started to pull this 150 apart, Seemed to run OK. I pulled out the spindle pulley and WTF, the spline inside this one are also shot - just gone, same as the other one I picked up. Good thing they were...

Hey guys, I didn't mean too but I stumbled across a 60s 150 floor model DP for $40. Couldn't pass it by. All there, dirty and a bit rusty. Looking forward to working on it. My question - the PO painted the head blue including painting over the big craftsman badge. Any suggestion on removing...

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

I posted this as a new thread without much response so though I'd post here. I recently picked up a Walker Turner floor model DP for the cool Craftsman variable speed/reversible crown top motor, to use on my late 50's Craftsman 150 DP. I'll get another motor for the Walker Turner DP and move it...

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

This is interesting to me. Dodge610 bought this 6 drawer that has a date code of 5-74 and it has the older style handles, and the 6-drawer I picked up has the same 5-74 date but the newer style handles.

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

Here are few more pics of this 6-drawer. The key does lock just the security drawer. Of course I didn't get the key with it, but I have a bunch of these old Craftsman tool chest and one key fir even though it's not the same number. I see that there is a thin plastic "liner" in the drawers -...

Thanks Rileysan, I've never seen one with this small drawer either. I paid $60 but it's in nice condition and of course no key. I'll check out the security key and take some more pics tomorrow. - Jim

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

Hey Guys, I just picked this 6 drawer top box at a estate sale. I've been looking for a smaller top box because I have a middle, but with the 10 drawer on top of the stack it's just too high. This 6 drawer is stamped 5-74 but I haven't been able to find it in the catalog. It also has this...
