What kind of motor is this?

Hey, I finished cleaning and putting a Craftsman horizontal band saw back together. It came with this old motor. I put a temporary cord on the motor and surprisingly it ran quiet and smooth. Not clear if I'm going to use it but what kind of motor is it? No tags or ID on it, the ID plate is long...

    Craftsman Drill Press

Hey Folks, I stumbled onto another cman drill press. I wasn't looking for anything but there it was on clist - $80. It's dirty and needs a good cleaning but all there and not a mark on the table. It's a model 103.24501. Might even be the motor that was originally put on it. When I got it home...

    Craftsman Bandsaw Slo-Speed Adapter

Thanks for sharing the links. I ran it for a good 5 mins and it ran fine. No idea how it would be under load but we’ll see. It’s just cool, I had to fool with it. If the belts break it’s all over. Thanks

    Craftsman Bandsaw Slo-Speed Adapter

I was picking up a Craftsman 150 table top drill press to re-do and the guy asked me if I was interested in a old Craftsman band saw. I already have one, but this one had a slo-speed adapter on it. I was thinking of setting up my band saw for cutting soft metals so for $40 I figured another one...

Wet Grinder - What kind is it?

I was looking for a vintage wet grinder for sharpening some chisels etc., and found this one. No markings, had a spigot for the water reservoir, drain hole on the bottom for bucket or whatever. Cast aluminum body. PO thought it might have been used by a dentist. I have no idea but couldn't find...

    Powr-panl

CKS1955 - Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to seeing what you did. Where did you find those receptacles? BTW, did find the following on Vintage Machinery but not sure I want to go this route. http://vintagemachinery.org/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=36397

    Powr-panl

I know I could try to find 2 to 3 prong adapters but that's hokey. I figured someone here already did this. Maybe not!

    Powr-panl

I picked up a nice old Craftsman Band Saw with a Craftsman stand for next to nothing. On the stand was attached a POWR-PANL. I didn't try it but I was wondering if anyone has modified these POWR-PANL's for modern 3-prong receptacles. Thanks

Drill Press Vice - Who Made it?

I posted this over in the Vise thread but no responses - I must have stumped the experts... I came across a interesting drill press vise I've never seen before. It's brass tagged "The Producto Machine Co" Bridgeport ct. It has a unusual design - there is only about 3/4" movement of the screw...

I didn't see any replies to my post, any ideas on this drill press vise? Did I stump the experts?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I came across a interesting drill press vise I've never seen before. It's brass tagged "The Producto Machine Co" Bridgeport ct. It has a unusual design - there is only about 3/4" movement of the screw handle, you push the dynamic jaw, then insert the lever into one the groves, then tighten the...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I pulled the dynamic jaw and it is stamped 1-47. It's a Chicago. Has some letters under the "C1" but too gooped up with paint to make them out.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

It's funny how things come your way when your not looking for them. Picked up the Hartmann vise on Monday and yesterday this Wilton C1, 4 1/2" vise. Another it was too close and for $60 I got it. Seems to be all there and works fine. Haven't touched it yet. Got's a bend in the handle.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I did try that and it did tighten, but as soon as I let go of the handle it loosened up. I guess I need to see what's what when I open it up. Thanks

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Picked up this Hartmann 4 1/2 for $40 off CL. Thought it was cool. t works but I need to clean it and see how I can get it to stay tight when I release the lever. Hoping it's some kind of adjustment.

    Hartmann 4 1/2" Vise

I picked up this Hartmann 4 1/2" Vise yesterday from CL, it was too close and too cheap to pass by. I liked it because it's unusual and kinda cool. It's bigger than I thought it would be. It works, when you pull the lever it tightens up but if you let go of the lever, it loosens. It should hold...

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

Here is a couple of mine. Recently picked up this small Atlas 1010 for $50, with a good cleaning she purrs like a kitten. Wasn't planning on keeping it but it is so sweet. The other is a Craftsman floor model that I fitted with a Craftsman variable speed/reversible motor and remote switch. Fun...
