Any word on when SK will actually be up and running

Yeah, I would feel a lot happier about these changes if I knew that my money was going toward a USA company instead of a Chinese-owned USA company.

what are the options for loaded tool boxes for automotive work

Their sockets are a pain but I absolutely LOATH the SO 1/4 - 3/8 adapter. The springs they put behind the ball on that stupid thing are just way to darn strong. Every time I would use that adapter I would have to pull it out of the socket with a pair of pliers.

    Ratchet Retaining Ring Help

Yeah that is interesting. When I emailed about getting a new breaker bar drive repair kit, they emailed me back within a day saying that they would get one on the way. Two weeks later I emailed them again and they said it was on its way. Another two weeks passed before the parts finally showed...

    Ratchet Retaining Ring Help

Expect very, very slow service from them. Every time I have had to order or warranty anything it takes 1-2 months for it to show up

MAC Tools compared with Snap-On, other automotive brands

The way I see it, MAC is a "member" of the major tool truck brands. Those brands being Snap-On MAC Tools Matco SK Tools In my experience, all of the above mentioned brands make high quality, USA made (for the most part) tools, with price points between the brands changing only a little bit...

    Mantis Tool Grid

I would think it would be easier to add tools with this system as opposed to a system like kaizen foam. Because instead of having to recut an entire foam piece, you would just have to move around some holders. I'm not invalidating your experience, but just musing. What do you use for tool...

Looks great:love:! How the heck did you get boards from JBTools?! I have been checking their stock on and off for the last two months and not a single TG item has been in stock!

    Favorite 1/4" ratchet.

Yeah definietly get that sucker replaced. I'm guessing you already tried a little lube? mine would also bind but after I put a dab of MS grease on the pawl and switch it has gotten much better.

Best lubricant for a ratchet with given tooth count and drive size?

Tekton has some good info on their page for SuperLube about the lubrication of ratchets. They recommend "Put a dab of SuperLube Grease between the pawl and the switch pin and another dab inside the detent spring hole. Use a very small amount—too much grease can degrade the performance of the...

Best lubricant for a ratchet with given tooth count and drive size?

So far in this thread there have been suggested/mentioned the following: - Superlube (mentioned the most) - ATF - Lathe oil - 3-in-1 - Motor oil - Marvel Mystrey oil (not a great suggestion IMO... MMO is mostly Stoddard solvent and therefore not a great lube) - Permatex Ultra Slick - Corrosion X...

    EDC Utility Blade… Again…

Thats my current every day carry. I used to be a pretty big knife nerd. Ive carried Kershaws, Victorinox, Mora, CRKT, Buck, and a few Gerbers. I have probably lost as many knives as I have bought haha. Fanciest one I ever owned was a Benchmade Emissary. She was two hundred dollars of pure...

    Mantis Tool Grid

I am going to be making the Tool Grid leap when I buy my new Tekton box. Looks like an awesome system with the only downsides being cost and that the mats take up a tiny bit of vertical storage. Way more customizable than foam and if you sell or buy a tool then you dont need to re shadow the...

Combo wrenches: regular vs ratcheting vs flex-head ratcheting?

Same. 90% of the time I reach for my standard craftsman open ends rather than my Gear Wrench ratcheting ones. Mainly because the flippin ratcheting end is so much fatter than the standard craftsman box end.
