    Has anyone tried this tool?

Dumb question, but why not just poke a hole in the filter to drain the oil out first? When I change oil in our trucks, I always take an awl and poke a hole in the bottom most part of the filter and most of the oil drains out and I take it off with no mess.

Opening overhead garage door from the yard with no remote ?

Should be, when you put the key in and turn it, it will create a connection between the two wires- opening/closing the door, then when you release it, the connection will be lost.

Opening overhead garage door from the yard with no remote ?

Ok, so to wire up the keyed switch, one wire will go to the first screw(red 1 above it) and the other to the center screw(white 2 above it). Simple as that.

Opening overhead garage door from the yard with no remote ?

Yes, there should be either three or four, depending on what opener you have. The will be on the rear of the unit. There will either be three screws, or four little squares with holes in them that the wires will go into, not sure what the technical term for them is. If it has three screws on...

Opening overhead garage door from the yard with no remote ?

A keyless entry is going to be your easiest route, so long as your opener can accept it. I say that because depending on the age of it, parts may be obsolete for it. As long as it has safety eyes(made after sometime in 93), you should be able to get one. I believe anything before that is going...

Need new lock for Clopay garage door.

There really aren't many options out there. The most secure lock out there is a slide lock that mounts to the inside of the door that has a bar that goes through the track. The biggest downfall to that option is you have to have access to the inside when you want to open it. There are some slide...

How do you hide garage door wires?

Re: How do you hide grage door wires? When at all possible I try to staple wires to the framing around the door. Most door frames have a 2x4 or 2x6 laid flat that the tracks mount to and I staple them to the side of the board where the drywall meets the board. They aren't necessarily hidden...

cordless tools, what's your favorite ?

Right now I am a huge Milwaukee M18 fan, it is what we have completely switched to in our truck. We used Panasonic for years and years until they switched their line to Lithium batteries. They were very very good tools, but didn't fit our needs so we switched to Milwaukee. Before Panasonic we...

    garage door quality?

I have never heard of Martin, so I don't know how good or bad they are, but I can speak for the others. There is good reason that the Raynor is that much more than the Wayne Dalton, they are just that much better. In my book most Wayne Dalton products are a joke, they are just cheap in every...

    New Drill or New Batteries?

We tried this with our old Panasonic batteries, never ever again. They were rebuilt by Interstate and they were so hit and miss. One would be like brand new, but the next wouldn't hold a charge very well at all. Maybe it depends on brand, but we wouldn't do it again. Although it was cheaper than...

    Haas Garage Doors

You will be much much happier with the LiftMaster operator over the Marantec. When we get a call to work on a Marantec, we just bid the customer a new opener- a LiftMaster. The LiftMaster may have all the bells and whistles, which really aren't practical to most, but it is by far the best...

    snap on kra3107a parts

I don't know the specific model of my box, but it is a KRA from the 70's and I had one bent drawer slide and they gave me a new set for the drawer. I got mine off the truck through my friend. They are still available, just not off the website.

What good FREE software do you use?

Not sure if these are useful, but I used to use these for 3D modeling for gaming and just building random things. Blender 3DS Max (student version) Maya (student version) I have also found a free version of Photoshop, although it was an old version, but still free.

    Garage Door Spring Help

Your best bet is just to call a door company and have them order you the correct set of springs. Springs are very tricky, it isn't just the length that is critical, but the diameter of the spring and the wire size. The big box stores may have a spring that works, but it may not be the correct...

    Garage Door Trade Up?

If you want a good insulated door the CHI 2283(3 layer) will be your best bang for your buck. Being a steel two sided door adds way more strength than the 2251(2 layer). The 2283 also offers better protection from objects on the inside, like for objects falling against the door, being steel on...

    iDrive Torquemaster low headroom

My bad! For some reason I was thinking it was like the ez wind, but I guess even then that opener probably wouldn't even work. Thank you for pointing that out, I wasn't thinking.

    Show your new tool arrivals

I know the pic isn't great, I took it with my phone, but I got the last of my screwdrivers today. Hopefully the last set of screwdrivers I will ever buy.

I'll probably realize what a dumb question this is...

Milwaukee makes some impact sockets that are thin walled. They aren't thin all the way down, but towards the end they are, and they may be thinner than a standard impact socket, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I don't know how well they would hold up as far as mechanic work goes, but...

    iDrive Torquemaster low headroom

If you are going to spend money, at least invest in something that is worth it. I have never heard a single good thing about the Idrive. We have only ran into a few, but those few have been replaced multiple times, they just aren't good. The idea is there, but Wayne Dalton residential openers...

I have never seen that done before. That is a great idea to squeeze out a couple extra inches.
