    California Air Tools

CAT gets the thumbs up from me. Another brand to consider is Fortress from Harbor freight, they seem to be very nice units and possibly even a step up from CAT.

Help Me Choose - Tekton vs Icon

I'll throw in another vote for Tekton. I've been impressed with all the tools I purchased from them. The sockets are very good quality, and their ratchets are excellent especially considering the price point.

Makita Gold Impact sockets any good?

They are a good buy. I believe the sockets are made in Taiwan, and the impact adapter is made in Japan. Can't go wrong with that set for the price.

    Welder Selection MIG/TIG

I've been in this same situation for a little while now. One welder that has caught my eye is the WeldPro Tig machine. It has a ton of features, and the price is very reasonable. Another machine to look into is the new Vulcan Tig welder that is coming out, I believe it's the 200 or 205. If you...

    Milwaukee 18 volt question

If you have the option, buy the 3.0, 6.0, 8.0, or 12.0ah batteries. They use a different battery cell and architecture, and are superior to the other Milwaukee battery offerings. Sent from my SM-G975U using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Air Compressor for DIY Use

I'm a DIY'er myself, but I'm also a seasoned metal fabricator/ welder and new-ish engineer. I've had a 20 gallon oil-less compressor for several years, and while it served it's purpose over the years I've never been happy with it. Oil-less units are typically loud, but the tone and frequency is...

    HF Fortress Compressor's

I've been looking into the fortress compressors also, because of the aluminum thanks and low noise ratings. I was interested in the 4 gal model at first, then when I heard about the 5 and 27 gal models that were coming out I decided to wait till they hit stores. I looked at all of them...

    Tekton ratchet experiences

I was comparing the Tekton ratcheting mechanism to Nepros, but if cost wasn't a factor I'd take the Nepros because the fit and finish is stellar and I enjoy the handle shape. If it were between a Snap-on and Tekton 1/4" (or even other drive sizes) I'd likely take the Tekton, but once you bring...

    Tekton ratchet experiences

The ratcheting mechanism is really solid on these, and the back lash when the next tooth is engaged is next to none. The Snap-on dual80 1/4 drive has a lot more back lash than they should, so the Tekton and Nepros both are better in my opinion. What's the point of having a fine tooth ratchet...

    Tekton ratchet experiences

I enjoy and recommend Tekton ratchets. I have 7 of their 90t ratchets and one of the 3/4" drive 72t ratchets. I'd argue that they are on par or better then Snap-on dual80 ratchets. The 1/4" drive ratchets are better then Snap-on comparable. I'd say the Tekton 1/4" drive is on par with Nepros...

    3/4 Drive Socket Organizer

Tekton has 3/4 drive socket rails. They are likely made by Ernst, and are made in USA.

    Tekton vs Sunex vs other

I don't have ant experience with Sunex tools, but they seem to have a good reputation. I do have a serveral Tekton tools, and I've been impressed with everything I have. I'm typically a bit of a tool snob, but Tekton has caused me to start looking at other brands similar to Tekton. Their chrome...

    Tool Box Recommendations!?

I might post a thread about it at some point, but unfortunately my phone bugged out and I lost about 15 pictures of the beginning of the tool box build. I'll keep taking pictures as I make progress though. I'll likely make the thread once I have the bottom box finished. Then I'll update it as I...

    Tool Box Recommendations!?

I've contemplated my tool storage many times, and I have a similar work history to the OP. Snap on epiq boxes are very nice and are build well, the problem with them for me is cost since having a $50k+ wall of tool storage is out of the question for me. One company that has caught my eye is...

Felo Ergonic, Tekton, etc for drivers?

I have tried a bunch of screwdriver brands, and of the two that you are interested in I have nearly every Tekton screwdriver (I'm only missing the Robertson drivers). I really didn't need the Tekton screwdrivers, but I like there handles and I feel that they are good quality. The warranty from...

Has anyone built a roller cabinet from metal or even nice wood ?

I'm working on building one currently. It's a slow go due to limited time to work on it. It's 84 x 41 x 27. I'll be building a hutch, side cabinet, and over head cabinets for it as well.

    Show your new tool arrivals

I have the 3/8 metric set of these sockets, they are really nice. Koken makes excellent sockets, I've been impressed with everything I've bought from them so far. BTW, koken has several socket sets offered with the surface drive design.
