    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Attached garage in Hill Country 700sq/ft

I'm surprised you got PEC to agree to a trench that far. When I did my service install last year they limited me to 100' from the transformer to the meter. You will not regret the 400 amp service. In this day and age it's almost a prerequisite.

Above 1200 Sq/FT Project not an eyesore

With the arrival of the plasma cutter and things winding down at work for the holidays, I allowed myself to get distracted and do rudimentary plumbing of the air system. Everything went together really simply, and the only leak issues I have been able to detect so far are with 40 year old...

    Build now or wait?

Honestly that doesn't sound too crazy. My 33 x 60 with a 12 x 60 lean-to with foam, electrical, and no plumbing is over 100k at this point. I have done all the work except panel hookup.

A not workshop garage issue. Took out the trash last night to hear quite a bit of water coming from the water heater drain valve. Lots of water accumulating in the catch pan. Drained the water heater and tested everything to the same effect. 4 year old water heater with a bad tank, crying shame...

I have nothing really of value added in terms of shop productivity, but going to add content for fun. Life has been busy with work, wife, kid, all that. Shop Progress: - Internet went down for the house for a day, so with some extra downtime ran ethernet out there and now have wifi in shop...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

    - Continued on emt run for upper neon sign outlets. - started cutting base nailers for when I can add wall panels. - Replaced brushes in my 40+ year old Makita miter saw. I would say they were a bit worn down

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT jbrentd's - Detached 2 + 1 Tandem w/ Patio

Bathroom is looking fantastic, and the paint color is a nice compliment. The thicker 3 cm countertops is always the right choice. It's one of those things you can't put your finger on that add a feel of quality to the job.

How do you haul your welding bottles ?

I just whipped up a bottle holder out of scrap that ties into my truck beds tie down system. Have a couple more tweaks I want to do, but base design works well.

I literally just succumbed to the temptation and got one of those even though I have no immediate need. Already found a use I didn't expect for it and glad I have it. Put an alert on the air bottle jack for hfpricetracker.com now to upgrade. Probably going to steal a couple of these ideas as...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT The West Wing (24x36x12)

Thanks for breaking down the costs as such. I ran into the same result when I put together my barn. People are surprised when I tell them it isn't $40/foot like they expected, but anything I could I DIY'ed, and it still came out more. Sadly, the rules have changed.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors patio... seriously, excellent work on that one. Hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it.

More little victories. After a year and a half I finally get to park my project truck in the shop. It looks like my current level of insulation isn't quite enough for Texas heat. set it at 79, and at 106+ the lowest it could manage is 81. The positive is that it is quite comfortable at that...

Not that you can tell as last two photos are practically identical, but got the linesets and wiring cleaned up inside and the shop AC is on. Ran a test to see if with current amount it could cool it to 70. After about 4 hours it went from 100 -> 78, and I decided to call it a night. I still...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Hillside steel workshop project_2 post lift install

Okay, that makes plenty of sense to me, and will never argue overkill. As someone with an existing 5.5" at 4k PSI and a future lift in the next few years, I am looking for as much information as possible on the best possible install.

Like the progress being made. I'm curious on why you are going with the new concrete pad requirements versus an existing slab. Assuming you are doing something like a monolithic pour which would meet the lift requirements with much less concrete.

    Unshopping a Shop With Landscaping

simple, but eaves on front and side are a nice distinction above metal box and help with water management. Porch of some sort makes a big difference too. Always with beds. wainscot or stone wrap will help too. I also think use of stone depends on how many windows you have to break it up. A giant...

Not much to report. Minor cleanup, nowhere near done on that. Got minisplit heads mounted today. Hopefully will be able to knock out hooking everything up in the next week or two when I get a spare day. Started throwing together a rolling air compressor cabinet from some leftover OSB and...

    Dusty drywall

Roll on, not at all. Spray on, not really either. Vacuum up the stuff on the floor so you don't track it around and you will be good in my experience. PVA primer for even texture.

Aziz! Light! Still have to get the 3-way switches working right, but at least I can see what I'm doing now. it's plenty bright, but honestly not as crazy bright as I was expecting 100 footcandles to be. I'm curious to measure it just to see how it's doing. Next step is a long overdue...
