What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I’m FINALLY at the assembly stage of the Turbo 350 rebuild. And yesterday, installed a new stove, while it’s technically not in the garage, I used tools from the garage. The 30 year old stove finally bit the dust. I need to raise the stove about 1/2 inch. The legs ran out of adjustment, I...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Cleaned, oiled, and installed new bushing in the front pump assembly. The front startor shaft requires 3 bushings. It was a little intimidating, but actually went smoothly. Still have a lot more to do.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the valve body (which has a lot of parts inside it) on the turbo 350 rebuild. This is my first transmission rebuild, the complexity of an automatic transmission blows me away, and people infinitely smarter than me came of up these.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I removed all the old bushings in my Turbo 350 rebuild. These are just a few of the bushings I took a picture of. As you can see, they say GM on them so I’m assuming they are original and at least these were never changed out since rolling off the assembly line in 72.

I bought a bearing and seal driver set, and borrowed my dad’s parts washer for the transmission rebuild. The parts washer looks brand new, my dad bought it in the 70s in our first house. It probably hasn’t been used since the 90s. My dad keeps his stuff immaculate, as you can see from the...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Disassembling the valve body on the transmission rebuild. It’s taking longer than I hoped but I dont have the engine back from the builder so I guess it’s ok.

Needed some cape chisels to remove bushings for my Turbo 350 rebuild. I didn’t know these existed until I started this rebuild.

A coworker is cleaning out a shed at their home and said it’s full of tools they want to throw away. They are sending me pictures of tools and asking me if I want them. This is the first haul. Free

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I’ve had this Chas Parker for about 10 years and it just been sitting in the garage the entire time. I wasn’t sure where I wanted to mount it, but finally decided to move it to the outside work bench. Oiled it up and wiped it down. I have my grandfathers Rock Island in the garage and don’t...
