    Above 1200 Sq/FT Pacific Island Life - 40x50

It finally happened! Installers showed up at 9am this morning, and left at about 5:30. And installation went smoothly. Good guys and they did a fine job. Despite the many delays and long wait, we finally have a working garage door only 9 months (nearly to the day) from time of order. From this...

Thanks for the note. I think if I had built a couple of years earlier I'd have knocked 25% off the price pretty easily. Things just got insane in this area for construction, and prices for labour has nearly doubled. Would have loved to go larger, but I think this will work nicely now that I'm in...

    Made by Pratt and Whitney in 1952. It's a Model C, 12"x30". Weighs 4800lbs or so, it's a monster!

Was wanting some different background noise today, so moved over and set up the shop computer. I have plans for a sit down assembly bench in this area. It will be U-shaped where the compressor qnd current bench are, and dedicated to delicate work such as electrical testing, RC cars, 3d printing...

As I go trying to figure out where things live, time to start working on some sheet good storage. Given the layout I decided to put it on wheels, so that I could wheel it out of the way when needed, and also wheel it into the main space when unloading sheet goods. Would have loved to get better...

They are out there, full stainless steel setups like this (including the faucet) from restaurants. I paid $200. Feels like I stole it still, but have seen plenty for sale since in that price range.

Working on setting up the metal work side of things, and there are some challenges here. Mostly because all my previous storage and benches were largely "built in" to the last shop and I'm leaving it there. So some new solutions need to be found and crafted. Picked up this bad boy after years...

Yeah I would have loved to buy the sea can, but they were at covid crazy prices at the time, so the rental option worked out great for me!

Moved all my woodworking stuff out of the sea-can that it lived in for about 8 months (since teardown of the last shop) and into the new shop! Used a bigsteelbox rental, worked out really well to have my tools stored on site, for about the same cost as a mini-storage. Good value overall...

Yeah that part worked out pretty well once I landed on that approach. The horizonal steel runs make good cable trays, and letting the plywood run long (a full 8') allows for a little more coverage there as well. It's nice to to waste any, and I agree that this solution looks "right" for the...

Some more progress shots.. Decided I would only wall the front corner that will end up being the metalworking area - the woodworking area has some other considerations before I commit to putting up wall sheathing. That and I really wanted to protect the insulation from sparks, and stray bits of...

First project in the new space... fix the wiring harness (knock sensor) that rats have eaten in the engine... AGAIN. Last time I paid the stealership $800 to do it, and two months later I'm doing it myself... with vengeance. Quite a bit of mess under there, especially considering the harness...

A little behind on progress updates and photos, so here we go! Took 3 weeks off over Christmas in order to get a bit moved in to the shop and some other work done. Despite the snow, the holidays and a bunch of other things that had to happen during that period, made some good progress. Started...

Given we are 2 months overdue for my order, and they are saying at least another 2 months but can give me no firm date, these could be pretty long term. Plus it's the only bay door and I haven't moved stuff in yet!

Yeah we got about 6" here so far. Not very conducive to getting shop work done, but had a good time with the quad in the snow at least!

I bought 3/4" black iron for right about $3/foot from Home Hardware. Seems to me I bought a 50' Newline (It wasn't rapidair or maxair) kit for about $150, but it came with all the fittings and valves. Of course the build quality on the kit I bought was so bad I had to replace a significant...

And now two doors. These things have to be over 200lbs per (3.5 sheets of OSB, plus the framing) and are on three decently sized hinges each. They open pretty easily and smoothly at least. However, building them on the floor was one thing, standing them up into place to hang them was quite...
