    Above 1200 Sq/FT Pacific Island Life - 40x50

Another hot day, 10 hours or so in 32°C heat. At least for much of it I was down in a hole, or finding some shade. But some decent progress none the less. Rainwater leaders, geotextile, gravel, and SOME backfill was the order of the day today. The foundation wall concrete is only 5 days since...

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Action Sports Garage

Yeah I was there in the good old days, decades ago now. Used to hit Mount MacKenzie just about daily in the winter. Way before it was developed into what it is now. The cat skiing was epic too. Still a winter playground though, with the other mountains surrounding. Snowmobiling, cross country...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Pacific Island Life - 40x50

Well progress continues... it's been hot here lately, 32-35°C (90-95°F, which for my northern bones is too hot to do ANYTHING other than melt) but despite that I've pushed ahead with some things. Finished underground electrical service (the last 6 feet), connected data conduit, painted...

Back in my old town! Might be my favorite place I've lived.

    CNC router equivalent to thingiverse

Hmm, not really as I've never used a Shapeoko. But I was sold on the ball screws and overall approach to build. Combine these with the fact it it's a Canadian company (and I'm in Canada, eliminating exchange rate challenges) and the price was good, and I was sold. I did a lot of review reading...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Pacific Island Life - 40x50

Progress today while I was away, foundation walls were poured. Not a lot of photos, but marking the progress none the less. Today is stripping forms and cleanup, then onto perimeter drains and rainwater leaders.

    CNC router equivalent to thingiverse

Onefinity customer here and very happy with it, bang for the buck is excellent. Comparable class of machine to the shapeoko, but I found it to.be superior in a few meaningful ways. As for files, between fusion 360 and vcarve I whip up most things... depends what you are trying to do...

Yeah exactly my thought. Office and washroom up top, which will put a set of stairs in the way of veggin in the office. Will have a shop computer on the shop floor so I can read The Garage Journal though. ;)

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Pacific Island Life - 40x50

I know, I went as large as a reasonably could with the site constraints and budget. It seems small to me already, lol. But I will have to make it work. Washroom as depicted is on the 2nd story, inset in the office. The woodworking shop is under both, with a 10' ceiling, on the main floor.

A bit of information about the build site. 4.94acres which is rectangular (ish) as depicted below. Hard to tell, but there is 37m (121ft) of elevation gain from the road (to the right) up the driveway (not depicted as surveyed, lol) to the dwellings. This elevation change certainly had some...

    Zengineer's Wood Work Shoppe

This shop provided a great space to complete a number of woodworking projects. But faced with the cost of a new roof, sheathing, siding, windows, etc. on the horizon combined with it being at a very weird elevation and location on my property, I decided to move on from it. The woodworking space...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Pacific Island Life - 40x50

I have finally started on my dream build (after more than a decade of planning), a 40x50 foot, 18' high steel building from Metallic Steel Buildings. Some details: - Pre-engineered steel building - built for the pacific coast means our seismic requirements make things BEEFY - 14'x14' bay door...

    Carlyle Tool Boxes

Have owned my Carlyle for a few months now, and am pretty happy with it. Compared to the run of the mill Husky, Mastercraft, Craftsman, Milwaukee options (I tested a lot of these before buying) it's a step up. This has thicker steel, more drawers and in general I can feel better quality in all...

Thoughts on napa brand carlyle tool cabinet

I looked long and hard for information on Carlyle before taking the plunge into buying one of their 54" boxes. (Upper and lower). I made a quick video of my experience here: TL;DR - Rebadged Homak. A nice step up from big box store options. Not a super high end box but good value for money...

You've got to be careful reading this thread and seeing Charlie's cars... you'll fall into the trap of buying one too. (he says as the new owner of an E28) ;) Great update as always, love that interior every time I see it.
