    Tools from the old world

Those Baum tools look so nice at the photos - but reality is far far away from those shiny pictures. Their products are very cheap (for example 160mm combi-pliers for 2Eur), so when I go to Globus again, I will buy a sample only for the reason of taking some photos for this forum to see the...

    Tools from the old world

Hi, I don't want to make you angry or sad, but I know something more about the Baum brand. It is the cheapest and lowest quality sort of tools, sold in "Globus" supermarkets here in Czech Republic. For the first look, all the Baum tools seem to be made in Germany and they surely look cool. But...

About the Merox screwdrivers - I think they are made by Sora. When I was in Baumax for the last time, in their sale I bought set of Sora screwdrivers (I posted some photos two days ago). These sets are sold out,but Baumax still sells almost the same screwdrivers, only with red coloured...

    Tools from the old world

Hi guys! Today was my lucky day. It did't seem so at the beginning - the first thing I did this morning was that I scratched my glasses when they hit the ground. So I went to Bauhaus for some material and I saw there and bought this Sora set too. It was in sale because of one missing...

Thanks for the answer! Your screwdrivers have probably better roots than my noname ones. And although my english is very poor, I didn't have to use your *star* note :) I'm sure you are a humorous man - I can see it from that picture under your nick :bounce:

Cosmic, that's interesting, because I have two near-similar screwdrivers with unknown COO. I bought them at some flea-market for 20cents and I thought they are China made, especially that red one with square profile of metal part (don't know the right word for it). Where do you have that COO...

    Tools from the old world

I have quite another problem - there are about three shops nearby and they have only Magna bits there :) but like somebody else wrote, Magna has something to do with Bosch and I don't believe in Bosch too much. I noticed there are two "types" of Magna bits mixed in the box in those shops...

@american lockpicker: nice tools - I like Leatherman Micra, interesting that those scissors are instead pliers jaws. And I see you are hiding one more tool from Old worls, the CZ75 :)

    Tools from the old world

I took more pictures of my father's tools today evening, and here are some interesting ones: 1) Old punch, made by OPP ROKYCANY (Czechoslovakia). 2) Stanley Thrifty 400 flat screwdriver, made in England. 3) Side-cutting pliers, age unknown, made by unknown manufacturer, but they seem...

    Tools from the old world

I bought these screwdrivers in Tesco sale (Monte, hi again :D ) for 3Eur... Although the package should contain 6 pieces, there were only four of them  but it was the very last set there, so I didn't mind - for that price... Like all Stanley stuff, it looks like from the Old world, I...

@Monte: I don't know yet :headscrat but I think it will be handy soon, because in three weeks I am going to repair my new flat generally.. Then I will tell you, I promise :)

For 3Eur I got this thing in Tesco action sale (Hi, Monte :) ). I'm sure it's China made, but it looks like from the Old world a little bit...

    Tools from the old world

I found these interestring pliers for 2Eur in one of our local stores. They are NIB, made in 1992 by ROSTEX in Vyškov na Moravě (Czech Republic) - quite new brand name for me! The pliers came with certificate of quality and description of use. Note that the quality class ("jakost" in czech)...

@Monte: only a little note - there is an action sale in Czech Tesco stores just now - they discontinue selling of Stanley tools. Those Stanley knives nr.199 are there for 2Eur :eyecrazy:

    Tools from the old world

Jure: I bought Merox 250mm adjustable wrench - you can see a photo of it several pages back. It seems to be heavy duty tool, and it is really well made and heavier too compared to similar product from Stanley or Lux. It has no play in jaws, and I'm simply satisfied with it

    Tools from the old world

I have a question - I bought Meister 125x7 screwdriver in some sale action (now it's in my car, so I can't take photo of it). The handle is made of transparent red plastic and signed W.Germany. My question is about Meister - good or not good? They still have some pieces in the shop and I like...
