    Atlas 408-SL Lift Review

Looks great. What is your garage size and ceiling height?

Anyone Using a Wall-Mounted Door Opener?

The single door opener (8500) will mount on the RH side. Looking at your picture, it won't overlap anything you have placed. It only connects onto the 1" shaft and onto the wood structure that the rail is mounted to for your garage door. The bracket, in this case will attach to the left side of...

    Portable Shop Heaters

I just completed insulating and boarding my 24 x 24 garage. I have R15 in the walls and currently R10 in the ceiling, but that will be upgraded to R50 in a couple of weeks. A complete vapor barrier was installed. We had a couple of cold nights last week (-5C) and the inside was toasty warm with...

    Portable Shop Heaters

But don't leave it unattended. There have been many cases reported of garage fires from those units. A $1.4M house with attached garage in my area burned to the ground last winter - cause - construction heater (4,800 watt).

MaxJax Install - Concrete too thin!

It is the combination of the provincial sales tax (equivalent to a US "State Tax") and a Goods and Services Tax (GST) which is called a VAT ("Value Added Tax")in the EU. The first tax goes to the provincial coffers while the second goes to our federal government. The combined tax in some...

Post signs that declare i have video cameras watching you an my property or not ?

After reading here, I have to agree that putting up a sign may deter the criminal - if not, you have some evidence after the fact. If they want in that badly, they'll put a face cover on and come in. As to equipment, I'm just getting started. I have a new network attached storage device (NAS)...

MaxJax owners, can you please look at my pictures and see if yours is like this

If a lift falls on a guy, how does he post to the internet after he is dead? In all seriousness, I wouldn't be modifying the lift. I'd find a local specialist to inspect it. I also wouldn't have an unapproved lift on my premises. I have no idea whether this lift is approved.

MaxJax Install - Concrete too thin!

I'm glad that you involved an engineer. Too many home projects like this end up in disaster after someone who doesn't have the qualifications makes some mistakes, thinking they know what to do. Kudos for you for recognizing the risk of that and getting the numbers worked out by a pro. :) I hope...

    Received my BendPak XPR-10A-168 today

Your talking to a 57 year old guy who just injured his back wrestling with an 8' x 18' overhead door that came off its cable during the install of a Liftmaster 8500. I got it installed but then had to call the overhead door company to adjust the spring and cable tension. It cost me $50.00 and...

    Residential garage air circulation.

I think you have to find the source of the odor and eliminate it as best as possible. I plan to add an exhaust far to my heated garage connected to a humidistat so I can keep the humidity down. If it drives up the heating cost too much I'll wait for a small HRV to go on sale and hook it up...

MaxJax owners, can you please look at my pictures and see if yours is like this

Thanks for sharing. I was considering this lift, but it looks like it is not well made, no matter how fancy the information on the web appears. I wouldn't modify it though. I also wouldn't get under it if you don't have 100% confidence in it. I'd rather throw $2,000 away than feel obligated to...

Anyone Using a Wall-Mounted Door Opener?

When you set up the opener, you set the upper and lower trave limits. You also install the lock mechanism "at least 3" above a wheel when the door is in the closed position". I think you would close the door normally, then disengage the drive unit (pull the unlock handle), lift the door up a few...

    My 2-Car Porcelain Tile Install....

I'm thinking of adding to my 25 x 25 two car to turn it into a 3 car and then add a lift for tinkering on my sports car. My wife wants a new kitchen though. By the way, it looks like your garage floor has a slope to it. I'm e has a 2% slope down towards where the ad drives in. I was planning...

Anyone Using a Wall-Mounted Door Opener?

I wired my keypad but I have a wireless keypad on the exterior of the garage. It works fine so I have no doubt the wireless LM will work as well. The 8500 is a well executed package.

    Increasing Ceiling Height

Thanks I've considered this option, but then while painting the garage this weekend I thought about just adding a third car garage attached to existing. More costly to be sure, but at the end of it, I think I'm adding a bit to the value of the house by adding a third car and storage space...

Anyone Using a Wall-Mounted Door Opener?

It is quiet, but some have a constant hum from the transformer while they are sitting idle. Liftmaster has fixed this in later production models and if yours hums, assuming the transformer is not defective, you can correct it by inserting a rubber grommet at the transformer mounting points...

    Increasing Ceiling Height

In Canada. I've come up with an alternate plan. I call this the insane plan to add parking space. Why not add on to my existing 2 car garage? We have a breezeway that measures 18 x 7 between the house and the garage. My wife has been bothering me to turn it into a mud room, which involves...

Post signs that declare i have video cameras watching you an my property or not ?

Hard to say. If they want in and you let them know they are being recorded, they might just keep walking an come back with a balaclava on at night. If you don't warn them, they might walk on to the property and leave you a nice video. Of course, then what? You give the video to the police, they...
