Williams Taiwan same quality as Blue Point?

Same quality, same tool as far as I know. Every time I buy a socket set, I buy a different brand to try out. One of the first sets I bought Post-Craftsman when I got into school was a 3/8" socket set (10-24mm) from Blue Point. They fit good, they look good (if you care) and I've been using...

    23mm socket, really?

I haven't run into any 23mm fasteners yet, but with that said both the Proto 1/2" drive and the BluePoint 3/8" drive socket sets I have are complete from 10-24mm, including 23mm.

Was this a good deal on Japanese NSK micrometers?

They 0-1" has never been used, the other three have been but not much. The owner's manual is still in the box, and the blocks were still sealed in plastic. When I saw NSK and Japan I had assumed it was the same company that made bearings.

Was this a good deal on Japanese NSK micrometers?

It was a crappy wet day for the flea market. I got one Snap On screwdriver for $1 and was about to leave, and this guy that's there every week told me to take a look at a set of Micrometer's he had before I left. He brought them over and I took a look. They were in a wooden box, a 0-4" set...

    Sunex tool cart!

I have a black one that I also bought on Amazon (I think mine came from CPO). Shipped UPS freight. The drawers do lock. There is a lock/unlock lever under the top. If you unlock it, the drawers will open even with the top closed, which I like. And if you lock it, none of the drawers will...

    Let's see your meters!

I have one, a Fluke 115. I know there are better Fluke models, but so far it's worked for everything I've needed it for.

Looking for a torque wrench? Why not try Aldi's?

I think you're right. When I was in high school I worked at Walmart bringing the carts back in. VERY rarely a customer would take them back in. Might see it happen twice in 8 hours at a high traffic store. That particular store had 4 of us working around the clock minus 11pm-7am (8 hours)...

Does anyone else here deal with fishing reels?

Well, to my knowledge only Spinning reels don't have a "pushbutton". And I personally hate them. Not that they are bad quality wise, I just don't like using them. Too awkward for me, and I never got used to them. For me it's spincast for 12lb and under line, and baitcast for heavier line...

Does anyone else here deal with fishing reels?

Picked up two of the Pflueger Saturn's from this ad at two separate occasions (must have been a common one) in good condition. From the 60's I believe.

Does anyone else here deal with fishing reels?

Apples to apples, often older is better when it comes to spincast reels like all of the Zebco reels I have. The cheap Chinese versions you can buy now **** (like the new 33's). People kept buying them for me, and they kept messing up. Don't get me wrong, there are TONS of amazing reels out...

Pet peeves about tools and tool buying.

Funny you mention that. My grandpa and I split a $220 lot of tools last week. I took a bunch of what I wanted/needed, he took what he wanted out, and the rest of what we didn't want, we resold Friday. We got half of our money back and kept a great deal of the best tools from the original lot...

Does anyone else here deal with fishing reels?

Curious as to whether there are others here that buy/sell/trade/fix/use fishing reels. I've fished my whole life. Still do it pretty frequently. I buy a lot of older model fishing reels, as they seem to have been made better in the past (with the exception of newer, higher end reels). Some I...

Pet peeves about tools and tool buying.

Worst one for me occurs at flea markets. You see some tools that someone has laying out on a table, and walk over to check them out. Upon further inspection you notice that, perhaps, some of them are good quality brands, but have clearly been used many, MANY times over the years. You pick...

Pin-type vs. bolt-type universal socket joints?

FWIW, I have several fairly worn out universal adapters and sockets in 3/8" and 1/2" drive. USA Blackhawk, SK, Proto, Snap On, Mac, Gearwrench, and Craftsman. I didn't buy a single one of them new, and most show signs of a lot of use. Yet, none of them are loose, at all. And every single one...

Who has used Proto impact bit sockets?

No doubt. If the quality is there, I don't have a problem.

Who has used Proto impact bit sockets?

I've been contemplating GP vs Sunex for a one piece torx impact socket in the future. Proto doesn't make the one piece impact torx sockets like they do hex sockets. Just torx bits that fit into an adapter like the ones that come with an impact screwdriver. (Blackhawk makes them though).

Who has used Proto impact bit sockets?

Thanks. If one's good, the other probably is too.
