    Jinxed myself, Dehumidifier died

The previous dehumidifier was a nice GE unit [I thought] via Lowe's. The thing tanked exactly one month after the warranty expired. The replacement is also a GE, but this time I've opted for a 3-year extended warranty / replacement plan though Lowe's. I leave it on the auto setting in the...

    Sleek98's 40x50 Shop and house

Now that you've had another 14 months of history, is the solar system still paying dividends? Any photos of the finished spaces would be cool to see, too.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Cleaned and made a space to store the new generator in the garage instead of the shed. Ordered a ramp for the back door to get it inside. I think long term the climate controlled garage will be better than an insulated shed.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I finally got fed up with the frequent power outages in our older neighborhood [ all overhead lines]. Yesterday the delivery crew brought our new Champion Equipment 10000/8000w tri-fuel generator. A monster. I had to have my son come over to help me get it out the back garage door to the...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT 3rd time's a charm with a 3 car workshop

Does anyone rebuild motors any more, or is it more expediant and cost efficient just to hunt down a suitable replacement? By anyone I mean electrical shops. I come from the time where you could get a faulty car starter rebuilt rather than spend the $$ for brand new. That may be a thing of the...

Thanks much. When I had our house electrical service upgraded to 200 amps, along with the new panel I had the electricians install a transfer panel for a generator plug-in on the outside of the house. My old generator is long gone and I've not replaced it. It's tempting to explore tieing in a...

Back in college days I worked part time for a building supply co that did custom millwork. It was amazing what the old guys could turn out. I doubt if any of that skill got passed on.

So if you're using four 100ah batteries, is the 3000w inverter good enough? Are the batteries in parallel? Sorry - I'm a beginner - back to basics. I'll hit Will Prowse's YouTube channel to keep questions to a minimun. :)
