    Let's See Your Garage Dog

Wow, what a big handsome guy! He looked like a perfect mix, and sounds like a good mix of temperaments, too. Good on you for taking him in. 16 years is a long life for big breeds. My condolences on your loss.

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

HaHa! That guy on his back looks like an opportunist, just like my cat... Lay right in the middle of a doorway, so they are guaranteed to get some rubs and pets!

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

I LOVE and HATE this thread!! I love seeing the furry kids in all their glory, doing goofy dog stuff and possessing all those good "Whose your buddy" looks. But damn, I HATE,HATE,HATE reading about all of your losses! I grew up with dogs but haven't had for years (cats fit our lifestyle better)...

Sorry for your loss. She looks like she was a real sweetheart. I understand the hole-in-the-heart thing, but just remember the good memories she gave you, and the good life you gave her.

Making Process of Drive Ratchet L Handle Socket Wrench Hand Tool in Fact...

And each step of the way, the operator QC's the previous work. Brilliant! I can't imagine how low the wages must be to make and sell these things so cheap. No child labor (or safety) laws there!

Why is pegboard so disappointing? Am I doing it wrong?

Pegboard is the "Pocket Fisherman" of garages! I'm with you... plywood and GOOD screw-in hangers.

Best way to open and close this door?

Hinge it on the side rather than the top

Above garage door storage, Make or buy?

It all depends on which way your rafters/trusses are running. You want to spread the load out across as many as you can. Don't suspend the entire shelf on one truss/rafter. Also, although the hanging shelves in my garage were done this way by a previous owner, I would not use lag screws, eye...

It might prove to be OK to wait until spring for the deck... give it a winter's 'test drive' for water tightness before the deck conceals everything.

HVAC condensation unit causes minor flooding, I had no choice here.

I know where you're coming from about not shooting your mouth off and placing blame... I've bitten my tongue so much, it's nothing but scar tissue!!

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

Ha Ha… I had an ESS years ago... We trained for MONTHS!!! She was smart as a whip.... too smart to be controlled by a mere human! We finally had to have a parent-student conference at which it was mutually decided that I would be a COMPANION owner, and she didn't HAVE to hunt!!! On top of...

Store everything on cribbing or pallets, at least a foot above ground or floor level, and tarp the heck out of it! Let it breathe, but don't let it get rained or splashed on.

    Gate Post stiffener nonviagra

Square tubing of any given dimension and wall thickness is stronger in a bending moment than a comparable round tube. The strength lies in the length of the sides vs. virtually no 'sides' in round. It's a common misconception that round is stronger... I think based on the practice of using...

    Gate Post stiffener nonviagra

I hope you didn't buy the DOM tubing you mentioned..... that's spendy stuff for what you are doing. In a bending situation, I would use square tubing (which IS more expensive than pipe, but has less resistance to bending. Use at least 1/8" wall, preferably thicker) with the sides inline with the...

Creative Solution for Garage Door Opener

Look at Liftmaster's jackshaft opener with their optional kit that lowers the drive unit about a foot and uses a chain drive and coupler to run the shaft. It's not much larger than the cable drum on the end of the shaft. Never used one, but had plans to on my M-I-L's garage which is similar to...

    34’ Gantry I-Beam?

The issue is greater than just the beam: support columns and the connection between supports and beam also need to be considered.

So... a second career in military canvas work, huh? After all, you've got enough canvas to cover a football field now. Congrats on upcoming retirement! You do realize that now you won't have nearly enough time to do what you want, don't you? It seems that since I retired, there's more to do, but...
