Here's Maya and her look alike friend. We rescued her 7 years ago; she was abandoned in a field. She likes being in the garage - until it gets noisy, then she's outta there!

My two. Both rescues.
Holly is coming up to 17 years old in a couple of months.

Tara was dumped on the streets of Croatia with her siblings as a pup.

Thanks for saving these two beautiful fur balls. What's the story with Holly's eye? Hopefully it causes her no pain. She's still such a pretty dog at her age. How did you happen to save a dog from Croatia? Tara looks peaceful as can be.

Holly lost sight in her eye a couple of years ago due to glaucoma. Apart from walking into things she doesn't see on that side and lack of depth perception according to the vet its not causing her any pain.

Tara is nuttier than a box of frogs. She's definately her own character.

After we lost our collie to bone cancer we spent a couple of months trying to get another dog from a rescue in the UK (and them seemingly being unwilling to either phone back or let us visit to see the dogs they had) so we started looking further afield and she popped up on a rescues facebook page.
She's still not happy about travelling (7 years later) which i suppose isn't too suprising seeing as she had a 24 hour drive in a small cage to get to the UK along with a dozen other dogs.

My best friend is a 145lb Newfoundland, as I’ve posted before.

My wife got a new pup, that really only has eyes for me. Makes me a little sad for her, but that’s the way it works with dogs. They have a voice in the matter.

Anyway, he’s 37lbs of hunter. As busy as any pup I’ve ever had, but is becoming a great and welcome addition to the shop!

To date(as a 9 month old), he’s brought me a couple birds, a couple rabbits, and more than a few rodents.

Instinct is a marvelous thing.

Here’s the two dogs I’m watching this week while the family is out on a cruise. First photo is Chloe and Nellie practicing for trick or treat in front of the dog biscuit storage cabinet. Second one is then waiting for the leashes to go on a walk. They are sisters. Chloe is tan, Nellie is brown.

I think Chloe would be a garage candidate since she was always about 5 feet from me wherever I was.

She was 10 weeks old when that picture was taken. She is now about 7 months old. She is a English Springer Spaniel and tomorrow will be her first Pheasant Hunt. She has been Dove Hunting so far and did great. Fetching Machine! She is unbelievably smart and a real joy to train so far. One of the easiest dogs I have ever had. Here is a photo of her at 6 months. She loves people and other dogs and when people come to the shop she thinks they are there to see her.

Ha Ha… I had an ESS years ago... We trained for MONTHS!!! She was smart as a whip.... too smart to be controlled by a mere human! We finally had to have a parent-student conference at which it was mutually decided that I would be a COMPANION owner, and she didn't HAVE to hunt!!! On top of everything else, she HATED to get her feet wet, even in the grass. She was a great companion, always with me, always sitting where she could see me. She was a good one. You're gonna have lots of good times with that one...enjoy!

Charlie (the brindle) and Molly. Both rescue dogs. Charlie was dumped in front of my cousin's business as a puppy. We got Molly from the pound a few years later. Getting Charlie a friend was the best thing we ever did.

So many GREAT looking pooches in this thread. I'm a complete slob about dogs. The joke T shirts they sell about going to parties and being the person who hangs out with the dog - that's me!

I love them all from the tiny chihuahuas to Great Danes and Mastiffs. Yesterday we were at a Halloween/Fall place with lots of full size size animals - bulls, pigs, Emu, llama goat, a hay maze, farmer's market, etc. I had my little toy poodle (somehow I've become the old guy with little dog, oh well) and a lady came in with a beautiful Bernese Mountain dog and a French bull dog, they - best friend dogs. The place had its own black Lab wandering around off leash and he was eating everything people dropped.

Ok, ok, you can post your cat I suppose but hopefully your garage mascot isn't a bird, a ferret, a tarantula or a monkey. Ok, I guess a monkey WOULD be pretty cool.

Meet "Sooner" my 6 year old Yellow Lab. He's actually closer to white. He's unusually large for the breed...about 102 lbs and not really overweight. He's pure bred too, though I am no pure bred snob. Mutts are the best dogs in the world I think.

If I know and like you, Sooner is gentle as a lamb. If I DON'T know you...like the mail man, UPS guy, or a salesman? He's going to have a piece of you unless I tell him, "No"...then he's a door mat again.

Let's see your best friend (hopefully)

Let me guess.

Better move your hand from the treat sooner than his mouth can **** it down?

Very easy to get a lab overweight. If a lab passes up food, something is wrong!

My sister adopted one that was 103lbs. Down to 70 now, a reasonable weight for him.
My lab stayed 85-90lbs. Just controlled his food and excercises.

My vizsla is great that he'll just eat when hungry. I just top up the dish every day or two.

So true. I've had two Labs, a black one and a blonde nearly white one - BOTH the best dogs I've ever had ... but then again every dog I've ever had is the best dog I've ever had. I LOVE dogs, all of them.

Few times my lab chomped my fingers when I gave him a treat.
I think toward the end he didn't see well anymore nd that didn't help.
Was almost 15 when he passed last fall.

My vizsla is more gentle. Will about make a puddle with drool though!

Our male 65+ lb Australian Sheppard and our 10+ lb (fearless) female Bichon Frise are not allowed to stay in our garage for more than a minute or two due to both of them clawing/scratching at the doors of our truck, SUV, and car. Both, of course, want us to know that they're ready to go for a ride and a walk.

Note: my truck I don't care about. But my wife does care about her SUV and her car.

Here is a pic of my last garage dog, although she didn't like the noise so she would sit outside the door and bark at anyone the went by. Nine pounds of terror! We got her second hand and found out the previous owner had young children that terrorized her. We had to warn people because if she thought you were bothering her she would snap at you.The first bite was a warning, no more than a light grab. I would warn people that she might nip at them, so be careful. She wasn't dangerous, just opinionated! Great gaurd dog, nothing got by her. On evenings when I got home late she would be sleeping with my wife and as I walked into the bedroom I would hear this low throaty growl until she was certain it was me. I don't know how a nine pound dog could make such low growls. The first time she did it I was surprised and wondered if we had a dog we were sitting. She attacked a larger dog that came into our yard. Her snarls sounded like a 100 pound wolverine in attack mode. She is long gone, but well remembered.

This picture was taken one evening the day before my wife and I were going on a trip. My mom had dogs and we would leave killer with her. The pup saw me tie her bed down to the rack and she knew something was up. While I was looking over the bike she would run around, yip at me and nip my ankles. I got tired of it pretty quickly and set her on the seat where she sat for 15 minutes before we left. She loved riding on motorcycles.

The first time I took her on a motorcycle ride I grabbed her and tried to stuff her inside my jacket. she really didn't want to go in, but I finally got her stuffed in and zipped up, letting her head sticking out under my chin. I rode a coupe miles to a friend's house and let her check out the garage while we visited. Come time to leave I picked her up and she practically climbed inside my jacket on her own. She go that figured out quickly! Ever since if the bike rolled out of the shop she was ready to ride!
